Hello,
I was wondering if I am doing this right. I play on the PC and in ME3, I used the "V" key to melee/fight off the abominations. I did bind the same key in MEA, but I don't think it's working. I just get slammed to the ground and bit or what have you. Is the mechanic different to shake loose from an enemy that grabs you?

So I assume it's universally configured to be the melee button.

It's the use/revive button in MP.
Bioware might have even bound this "shake off" to the melee key, but that would have been too simple, i think.
This is on PC. And no, the screen hint does _not_ prompt which key to mash.

I will need to do some remapping. Thanks again!

I'm on PC and I get a prompt to hit "E" I forget to mention my experience still comes from a very early 10-hour trial. Maybe they changed it in the meantime. or: In which langage does it prompt the key?

I remapped some of my keys so maybe that's the problem? The "interact" key is still E however.

I had that problem before nothing was listed in the prompt.
I suggest reseting bindings to default and then only changing the specific keys you want to change.

So the bottom line seems to be:
On PC it is mapped to the use/revive/interact key. If you did not touch the original settings (use/revive/interact is "e") it even shows up in the prompt to mash "e". Otherwise the key will not show up and you have to "remember" the key you bound use/revive/interact to.

Has anyone who is NOT using the default settings, aka "E", been able to shake off enemies? I use "G" to interact, and when I tap that button when being grabbed, nothing happens, and I get knocked down 100% of the time.

I have that issue too. But somehow today I was able to shake the enemy off while grabbed today. I think I was mashing all the keys on my keyboard and/or my mouse side buttons out of panic and frustration. So... next time I have to find out how I did it.... Tbh this is quite annoying. I really don't like using 1 2 3 for powers so mine is always Q E C.

I found a solution for the issue if you remapped your use key, I quote myself :
1/ Go to My Documents\Bioware\Mass Effect Andromeda\save\ 2/ open ProfOpts_profile with a text editor (notepad) 3/ look for the line GstKeyBinding.Keybindings.Concept_Interact.2.button 33 (the last number is the key you remapped "use" to, in my case the F key, 33) 4/ now look for the line GstKeyBinding.Keybindings.Concept_ButtonMashActive.1.button 255 Replace 255 (or the last number, whatever it is) with the number you remapped your "use" key to. In my case, this looks like this now : GstKeyBinding.Keybindings.Concept_ButtonMashActive.1.button 33 5/ Enjoy, now everything is back to normal you can once again play the QTEs with the key of your choice and not die because a stupid dog bit you.

A reminder for all, you can't 'shake' your way outta a sync kill, namely Fiends and Ascendants.

They stealthily fixed this issue. My melee button is now the "shake off button" just like in ME3! Perfect.
