Except that's not the Vietnam version of the M60 MMG. That's an... M60E4, far as I can tell. Never said that one in particular was used in 'Nam or was the same version. The vid is about the '60 in general, past and present.

Apparently the ancient Jews got into quite a few tussels with the Romans. This included the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem.

Apparently the ancient Jews got into quite a few tussels with the Romans. This included the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. You make it sound so casual. That tussel reportedly killed over a million Jews (at least according to Josephus). The highest death toll in a Jewish conflict before the holocaust. The temple destruction is like the Ground Zero to everything in Palestine and the rise of Christianity (and it's relationship to Judaism).

It is interesting to me, but I do not want to claim something that I do not know. A million sounds like a hefty exaggeration. I don't believe Rome even had a population of a million at that time.

It might be exaggerated, but still pretty devastating. The Jews were in exile for millennia+ afterwards. There wasn't anything left of the "Nation" itself after this event. It was a destruction of Jerusalem as well as many in the country in general. A big sweep... that finally ended with a few left in the mountains (Masada).

You don't fuck with the early Roman Empire, back when it had teeth, it used them on rebellions judiciously.

About the battle of Lake Tanganyika between the British and Belgians against the Germans in colonial East Africa.
About general warfare in German East Africa.
And lastly, about General Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck whom waged guerilla war against occupying British troops in German East Africa until the very end of the war.

Here's something new for this thread, a Turkish folk song about (Ottoman)Turkish soldiers from the eastern Turkish city of Muş who served and died in Yemen against the British Empire and rebel Arabs during the First World War, performed by Turkish rock singer Şebnem Ferah(whom i derive my Seboist nick from btw). Rough english translation courtesy of Wiki

Another popular song there.. Ballad for Çanakkale
"I am not ordering you to fight, I am ordering you to die" - Ataturk
In Çanakkale stands the Mirror Bazaar. Mother I set forth against the enemy, oh, my youth, alas! In Çanakkale there's a cypress tree. Some of us are engaged, some of us married, oh, my youth, alas! In Çanakkale there's a broken jug. Mothers and fathers abandoned hope, oh, my youth, alas! Çanakkale's heights are shrouded with smoke. The thirteenth division marched to war, oh, my youth, alas! In Çanakkale the cannonballs landed. Ah, our comrades fell wounded together, oh, my youth, alas! Çanakkale's bridge is narrow, impassable. Its waters have become red blood, not a cup can be drunk, oh, my youth, alas. From Çanakkale I barely escaped My lungs rotted from vomiting blood, oh, my youth, alas! From Çanakkale I escaped, my head is safe Doomsday came before I reached Anafarta, oh my youth, alas In Çanakkale they shot me. They buried me before I died, oh, my youth, alas! In Çanakkale are rows of willows Brave lions rest beneath them, oh, my youth, alas.

OMG... I'm pro-Greek and pro-Armenian and all these Turkish songs are triggering me! So why do the Greeks and the Turks have a long standing feud? Due to several hundred years of Ottoman rule, several post Greek independence conflicts in the late 1800s/early 1900s(most notably the 1918-22 war that lead to the population exchange, and the modern Cyprus dispute that has been going on since '74 after Turkey invaded the northern portion in support of ethnic Turks there that has lead to the island to be divided since.

OMG... I'm pro-Greek and pro-Armenian and all these Turkish songs are triggering me! So why do the Greeks and the Turks have a long standing feud? Because Turks occupied 4/5 of Greek lands since 11th century! And the Ottomans did an ugly massacre of Greeks in late WW1 a bit different than Armenian Genocide tho. Although 1/4 of Anatolia belonged to the Armenians prior to the Seljuks invasion and even Ottomans, the culture was similar and there was not lots of conflicts between them. But under Muslim Ottoman rule they lost some of their freedoms and wealth. Turks hate them, just because they're not Muslim.
