Haven't played far enough but somehow I assume that's a "no". The plot isn't that kind of plot. There's zero intricacy. It keeps jumping over where the fence is lowest. It's not even passable except some side-quests are good and the "narrative" of the meta game (colonizing worlds) is cool.

Wouldn't say "No" - I have just met two crazy (and I mean: Need to be locked up or shot, crazy!) former Cerberus scientists on Kadara (!)...they experiment with using humans as fucking processors in an organic-supercomputer and think TIM has "lost his way" for working on bringing Shep back (they call the Lazarus-Project pure mumbo-jumbo/vodoo!), so it's possible (I hope so!)

The story is just Cerberus-y (hello spoiler forums). Just without the tag, and the baggage.

Like, there's at least enough that while the main game apparently doesn't have to do with it, they leave plenty of openings to make something at least of more relation to Cerberus. By relation, I do NOT mean ties (I'm 100% sure that they'll never make any story that *requires* us to play the trilogy to understand it; but that doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't help...).

It was just decided that no, this (main?) game will be about an Initiative going the Heleus to find the Angarans, fight the Kett, and uncover the Remnants - cut the 'fat' out and see how people respond to this 'new start'.

Humans were much farther along than that. I can't be bothered to google the timeline on my phone, but Anderson was around 20 during the first contact war. Shepard wasn't born yet. So definitely more than 15 years.
