I have not really followed any details on the game for the last month to try and avoid spoilers and seeing too much of the game. I have not played ME:A yet (I am thinking about waiting a month or two to get it for issues to be patched) but yesterday I did hear that you can't customize your companions weapons or equipment, despite crafting being in the game. I have been thinking about this and it has been bothering me more then the damn technical problems that can (kinda mostly) be fixed because someone made this choice. I am just like... I can't wrap my mind around that fact that they put a (what I assume) is a extensive crafting and resource collecting system like DA:I so that you can make better weapons and armor, instead of just finding/buying them. However, you can only do this for Ryder and no one else. What is the point? Why put in this crafting system and have it apply to one person? Why can't I make armor and weapons and customize my companions just like in DA:I? I assume that is what they got inspiration from to add it. It is so half way. Ryder is in DA:I upgrade land, but the squad is in the ME2 style with no changes to their equipment or weapons. I just logically can't understand this choice. Technical errors happen, bad animations happen, writing can be bad, but this is just a halfway done decision for a reason I can't logically find. Either go all the way with crafting and customization or put those resources elsewhere, don't go halfway with it. Sorry, I had to rant about this. It has been bothering me. If anyone who has played the game can give me any half decent reason why they think this is I would appreciate it.

So I'm not sure about the outfits/armor, as I feel that should be pretty easy. However, I believe that for the companion weapons it makes perfect sense to lock them because of crafting. Remember that for crafting you can make a pistol that shoots grenades, a shotgun that fires lightning, and rifles that use beams, laser shells, or regular ammo. There's just too much variation. Remember in the OT when you would give a short-range shotgun to Tali and she would try to snipe with it? Well Bioware wanted the companions to be more effective in Andromeda, so locking them in to one weapon with set range and dispersal, etc, means you can script a good AI that always works well with their weapon. I think it was a smart decision, as the AI has so far been very good and helpful for me. Rather than Miranda dying EVERYWHERE! Come on, genetic super-babe! Didn't your dad give you some survivability genes??

Still seem strange to me, but at least there is logical reason behind it. What about crafting armor though?

What about crafting armor though? Yes, I have no idea about the armor. ME2-3 only had switchable cosmetic outfits with no customization in them, although I just learned that in ME3 the different outfits actually gave a different buff! Like 6 playthroughs and I didn't know that. I just went with what looked coolest. I think it would be pretty cool if they had added things like back in ME1 where there were Turian armors and Krogran Armors, or even like in DAI where you would craft a generic armor and then it would change its appearance based on who you gave it to to fit their personal style. That would be pretty neat. Perhaps in some DLC or patch they will add more options for armors, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm fine with it as is, but it would be kind of fun!

I had no idea if the armor would be like in ME2-3 with pieces you can change or like ME1 with DA:I crafting where you can change the whole armor or some kind of mix. Still seems weird and illogical to me though to put in a whole resource and crafting system only for Ryder to use, but at least the weapons reasons you mentioned earlier makes some sense, so thanks for that again.
