How often does the weapon upgrades on the Shadow Breaker Base get available? Should several missions be done before or is there any other way to trigger them?

Upgrades can be unlocked: > the next real-life physical day > after completing a mission (mission complete screen required)
After beating Lair of the Shadow Broker for the first time, save your game before using the terminal. Then, open the terminal. If no upgrade appears, then reload the save, and try again. Keep reloading the save until you get your first weapon upgrade.
After that, wait until the next real-life day, or go complete a mission, then return. Don't forget to make a save before using the terminal so you can reload until you get your weapon upgrade.
You can also disconnect your console or computer from the internet, then manually change the date on your PC/console to simulate the day change.
There are four weapon upgrades at the terminal: > shotgun > assault rifle > SMG > sniper rifle
Since I usually play at night, I usually finish Lair of the Shadow Broker, get my first upgrade, then shut the game. Next night, I load the save and get my second upgrade. Then I play an N7 mission (they're quick), get the third upgrade. Then another N7 mission, then the last upgrade.
I can't stress this enough: Make a save before using the terminal. The upgrades do not always appear right away, so you may have to keep reloading your save until you you get one.
The N7 missions are short, and some do not feature any combat. Plus 4 of the 5 Firewalker missions do not feature any combat, so you can do any of theose if you have not done them yet.
