From a purely numbers standpoint, is it better to keep Sloane in power or to let the Charlatan take Kadara? More specifically, Should you save Sloane from Reyes' sniper or should you leave her to die and let Reyes take power? Any consequences to one or the other? AVP, blah blah blah?

As per the Prima Giude:
Accepting Sloan's deal leads to Vehn Terev being executed.
Kadara: Which faction came out on top?
- The Outcasts. Reyes Vidal is on the run. The Collective loses their foothold on Kadara. - The Collective. After Sloane Kelly is killed, the Outcasts scatter and the Collective becomes the new power in Kadara Port. Rather than rule himself, Reyes uses Keema Dohrgun as a front. - Ryder didn’t get involved in the clash between factions. Sloane remains in charge. Tensions remain between the two factions.
— During the final mission, Sloane shows up to help (by default). If Reyes is in charge of Kadara Port, he shows up instead.

So there is no choice to call the police on that place in the end? Damn, that's a shame. Indeed, I wanted Kelly in prison (they only give you the option to get rid of her entirely sadly) and that place taken over (I might not like the "new" initiative director much, but at least he's trying and he is commited to justice, not anarchy with guns and murder! He might not like the Krogan (but: Salarians have good reasons not to...sure I wanted to "beat" that out of him, but over all? I'd rather support that guy than any others, not even Kesh!) by the A.I. greetings LAX ps: I don't want Kadara to be a damned combination of Illium and Omega (dirtier than Illium, but more honest (Illium is just "pretty Omega" after all) and still cleaner than Omega!)...or at least I don't want it to stay that way!

Reyes doesn't seem like the giant asshole Sloane is. The game provides no benefit for sliding with Sloane, so why should I ever do anything other than kill her?

I guess I'm the only one who stuck with Sloane. Vidal seemed like a duplicitous sleaze bucket from the word go plus he looked like he used the same preset as me in the character creator so I decided there was only room for one of us in Heleus. Can't believe Ryder missed the open shot. Also pretty rich that that asshole had the gall to write an e-mail calling Ryder a jerk for taking a shot after the stunt he pulled on Sloane "One on One! A duel with honor!"
Sloane might be a hard ass, but she cares about purging the Kett and you'll always know where you stand with her. Also pretty glad about how she handled that Asari who wanted to attack the Nexus. Elona I think was her name?

I love Reyes and am way biased, but I really don't see the benefit of siding with Sloane. She doesn't want the Initiative on Kadara at all and getting rid of her is good for the Angara alliance. Reyes seems like by far the more peaceful option.

I let Sloane die, I felt bad seeing Kaetus since I was kind of hoping you could get him to usurp Sloane, he seemed to be more level headed than that crazy bitch.
I think that's just some Turian bias speaking, though.
Reyes is cool in my book, he's still a pirate but less of a shithead by my standards.

Sloane: Remains hostile to the Nexus, but deems the Pathfinder "okay". Continues on with her own status quo, living like a pirate queen while shaking innocent people down and tossing them into the Badlands if they can't pay. The local Angara suffer under her rule, but she's a predictable and straight forward despot. Even after saving her life, she demands a "protection fee" from your outpost.
Reyes: Friendly, but untrustworthy; insists what he's doing is the best for peace in Andromeda (and certainly seems to stand by this assurance). Rules through an Angaran figurehead, taking her advice in ways that Sloane never did. The local's situation improves under this new partnership, but not everyone trusts Reyes. Lends his people to your Outpost while asking nothing in return and protects Nexus interests from pissed off Exiles. While his men are more civilized on the surface, they are absolutely brutal in their methods. The Outcasts either beat you if you don't pay or kill you if you're a threat -- the Collective likes to torture in order to extract any advantage they can get. Ultimately unpredictable and a far bigger threat than Sloane in the longrun.
It's a tough call, but I went with Reyes. Beyond being rude, Sloane is just a terrible ruler and her methods won't stand up to a second Kett attack. I feel that saving her is the morally correct decision, but siding with Reyes is the more immediately beneficial one. Time will tell how things shake out, though.

I get the strongest deja vu from this Outcasts/Collective thing, but can't remember the game which had somewhat similar gangs. Reyes seems like a natural choice, he's smart, charismatic and knows how to play his cards right, but the trick is that smart criminal is the last thing you need in your neighborhood. Anyway, the whole setup with mandatory Reyes' survival and absence of obvious "iron the place with APEX" choice seems like a lead to inevitable Collective's rise in next games.

Im not even gay, and I picked Reyes because he "charmed me" I thought he was cool, and in the face of a douchebag it wasn't a hard decision to make
dirty as it was, I laughed my ass off when the sniper killed Sloane and Reyes pretended to hold a gun in his hand going "BANG"

In a lot of these threads it would be really interesting to see who read Uprising. And if people opinions of a lot of the people would change much.

I'm only about halfway through Uprising and still went with Sloane. She went through some shit. I'm only a few pages in. And while it might make me understand why she ended up an exile it doesn't account for her atrocious behavior as leader of the Outcasts. I didn't even flinch in letting her die.

It will be interesting to me because I am the other way around. Ive completed Uprising but haven't got to her part in the game yet. So I have yet to see just how far she has come off the rails. It is interesting to me to see how the two interact. I went from thinking some characters were interesting in the game to wishing I had a renegade option to toss them out a window.
