Now that's a bit unfair. Software of this complexity will always have bugs, no matter how much money or time you throw at it. Conceptual flaws, bad asset quality, bad UI, poorly implemented network capabilities - that's stuff to complain about. A simple bug like this is not.

See: "the most extensive user testing we’ve ever done" TMWhat part of "no matter how much money or time you throw at it" didn't you understand? To be honest, I'm quite tired of having to have this discussion over and over again each time a new game comes out, so let me just say this: If you have never worked on a software project of this scale, don't pretend to know anything about how things work. Also, have some respect for the people involved cause I can assure that every bug they see people encounter in the game is more painful to them than to you. They poured their heart into this and want to deliver the best experience they could. And if you encounter something that isn't working as intended, it's not because they didn't give a shit. It's because there has to be a point where you have to wrap up and go for the release. Sure, in a perfect world, every game would get all the time it needs to be as perfect as possible. In reality this would mean that most games simply wouldn't be made at all.

Oh god I had this happen to me last night. Someone lifted a Kett into the air and I charged him and promptly got stuck in the ceiling. I spent about ten minutes in there until a herd of Adhis (or whatever they're called) came overhead and I was able to target one of them and used charge to get back out.

In reality this would mean that most games simply wouldn't be made at all. And yet after 5 years they still haven't figured out how to add a reset command when character models get stuck in the map. Sure, fixing the bug may be off the table but there is no excuse to not reset the character similar to falling off the map. Stupid is as stupid does though.

To me this isn't really just about this bug, it's all the issues surrounding the game thus far. ... To be honest, the game does not have that many issues. It is mostly done right, the mutiplayer part. The atmosphere is there, most of things work, it is playable and quite enjoyable IMHO. So, instead of paying excessive attention to "issues that surround this game", it might be a better idea just to take a closer look at the game itself. OT, I got stuck also, fell through some crack in the floor all by myself, just landed into it while jumping. After a minute or two, I somehow managed to navigate under the map and got to some place that triggered a respawn. Probably, they might add some more respawn trigger area, not sure how this can be fixed. Building solid walls is not that easy. Now, weapon hit detection is a different story though.

Conceptual flaws, bad asset quality, bad UI, poorly implemented network capabilities - that's stuff to complain about. A simple bug like this is not. As someone in STEM for years, I can understand what you are saying COMPLETELY. However, one of my old bosses always used to tell the engineering teams, "Hey, we will make mistakes and find them when the product comes in. What we DON'T want to do is make the SAME mistakes each time." Bioware knew Vanguard glitching was a thing in ME3MP, so that should have been in their test plan for the initial release. Moreover, the developers should have paid close attention to that during the design cycles. You could chalk it up to the fact the original developers are all gone so a new team made new mistakes. But still, they should have looked out for this bug since it was so well documented in the ME3MP game.

We need Bioware_Amelia to tell us that hey, NASA once screwed up the Mars lander so somehow that justifies buggy code.
Also 100% agree with not making the same mistakes twice. You wrap all previously discovered bugs in tests so they don't keep happening, or at least if they do you know right away.

But still, they should have looked out for this bug since it was so well documented in the ME3MP game. Fully agree on the quote from your boss. I'd cut the team some slack, though. It's not only a new team as you said, it's also a completely different engine and they definitely had more pressing matters at hand pushing for the release. It seems like one of those things they're definitely aware of but has a low impact (read: happens very rarely) and is probably a bitch to fix. Of course they could put in a reset command like someone suggested but it might be difficult to ensure that it can't be abused. Which it definitely would be because there's always some lowlifes who'd do anything to get a bit of an advantage (see the recent Overwatch XP exploiters as an example, ruining things for everyone).
