Honestly, I like the game, because the crew interactions really shine here. The crew really feels like family.
Yes, there are things that I wush were done differently, but the characters are still way, way better than in ME1 (bland) and ME2 (bunch of psychos with issues)
I dont like the voiced protagonist thing, because it locks the protagonist into specific personality and gets in the way of offering more options for how to play them, which is why DAO remains my favourite of all the modern Bioware games. But this is a common problem of all ME games

Definitely, although I prefer the MET crew the Tempest felt more alive with them moving around and bantering much more. ME3 improved that over the others but Andromeda upped it again there. I only like the OT crew better in ME3 mostly because of the foundation they've been built upon from the previous ones. Probably wouldn't feel that way, if I had just played ME3 and then MEA. A good while back, someone lent me a copy of ME3 before I had ever played the trilogy before. I was maybe 2 hours in before I realized that I was missing way too much and decided to buy ME1. Without really knowing the prior history, it can really feel hollow, especially since a non-import playthrough is missing a lot of the game's most memorable characters.

It's hard to say for sure, but Garrus would've most likely still been my bro and Javik is great in his own right. EDI wouldn't have worked for me just based on ME3.

Well I finally finished my OT run and now I'm about 3 hours in. I'm on the Nexus for the first time haven't gotten the ship yet. So far so good I like the story, animations are fine want to punch Addison but maybe that will change. Liking the music so far graphics are amazing. Overall very impressed and can't wait till I'm off work so I can jump back in.

I'm starting my third play, going for insanity. The graphics are so improved I'm going with default Sara/Scott. Haven't decided. Still haven't gotten to the real ending--They hide those memory triggers too well. And there's a lot of banter in the nomad I haven't heard yet.
I started out liking the game; now I like it a lot. Looking forward to multiplayer.

The 'Goods' in the game out-weight the 'Bad'. This is also a common fact in every rational game reviews. I peronally think the same and the game was enjoyable. There plenty of rooms for the improvement in the future DLC and sequels.
The problem is, however HATERS have WAY LOUDER VOICES and they write artcles with provocative phrases, than rational fans.
It almost sounds like they are using MEA as scapegoat for whatever problems they have... Sad People

heh. Bit jealous right now. Jealous? Why might I ask. For enjoying the game for the first time, I assume. Oh, what wouldn't I give for someone to flash my memory every time I finish a full franchise run of ME*, DA or TW. *I'd still like a note not to forget about installing an ending mod for 3.

heh. Bit jealous right now. Jealous? Why might I ask. From what i got from your post this is your first pt. Now that all the technical problems have been smoothed out you have a very good first impression ahead of you. Though can people confirm that they fixed the special item and movie night glitches? I've heard they have but I'm still having issues...which could be because i am playing a bugged pt. Hell this almost makes me want to do a second pt with Cass because i think the game is now where it should have been at launch.

I tinkered a bit after launch but most of my impressions till now came from gameplay vids(mostly non spoiler.)

Overall very impressed and can't wait till I'm off work so I can jump back in. Word of advice from someone who likes MEA the most out of the games, don't burn yourself out doing every little thing on each planet at first. Just go with the flow of the game and do quests that either interest or seem the most impending at the time. When you have access to all the planets, Elaadin I think being the last open world, then start making up your own narrative/Role Play a bit. That's the point where you basically have the freedom to craft your own story at will either helping people, establishing homes, completing loyalty missions, etc. You'll start to realize when the main story is heating up, but there's a nice spot (Hunting the Archon) where you can really develop Ryder, the crew, and the golden worlds before having a really exciting last 1/3 of the game (OT) style. The pacing your first playthrough can be really off which I think ties into why many people complain. The game is huge, but also not meant to sit in area or another. Details are spread more thin across maps for about 100 hours of gameplay. But there are times where you can really role play choosing to help someone over another but without the consequence of losing that other mission. It almost feels like the original ME trailer

Yeah it's how the game should have bee when it launched. The sad face when talking to Addison about Alec, the shocked guy on the Nexus now stumbles when you first arrive, jaw dropped. It's well done!

I really love the improved details to the hair, almost to the point of being a little distracted. It actually slightly moves during conversations, and makes it a bit more natural.
I may have to spend more than 2 minutes with the CC for my 3rd playthrough.

Damn was Kesh and Drack salty about me picking Raeka as interim ambassador. Screw their casual racism. Raeka for president.

Damn was Kesh and Drack salty about me picking Raeka as interim ambassador. Screw their casual racism. Raeka for president. Now I'm wondering if Drack will stay on the Tempest when the story continues and Kesh outright says the she's done talking to me. No way to open conversation at all. I just need a PT where I refuse Morda the drivecore as well. And leave Vorn...that will b e hard. It' a fun mission and Vorn is just adorable.
A general note after 1:06 is that I feel I have way more banter on Eos and in the Vault than before. I can't recall for sure how it was the first time but the companions have been commenting a lot. I had banter before, but I don't think I had this much.
