I wouldn't mind MEA to look like Borderlands/SWTOR ish. People can't complain about graphics or facials as much when it's more cartoony.

I think MEA looks way worse than I hoped. And although it overall looks better than ME3, there are moments that it doesn't. Especially when it concerns characters.

The simple fact that every Asari face is the same in ME:A is answer enough. When they said 1,200 unique characters, I didn't realize they meant the same face with a different tattoo, or face paint.

I have my issues with ME:A, but it looks for the most part better than the previous games. Maxed out on the PC I think the details in ME:A are better. I remember I was talking to my Dad in one of the CS during the intro mission and you could see breath fogging up the visors and sweat rolling down their faces inside the helmets. Snow and frost on your armor on Voeld, things like that. I think they used depth of view really well on the planets.
There are times when things looks weird, yes. But overall I think this game looks better.
If we're talking animations, then yeah the previous games were better, but that doesn't fall in the 'how the game looks' category to me. ME2 looked the most cartoonish to me honestly. All the other games had a darker tone to the aesthetic.
I think people get aesthetics and graphics confused.

ME3's graphical fidelity was crazy inconsistent. Like, Tuchanka, Rannoch and Palaven look great, but the Citadel and the opening mission had this jarring range in texture quality. Like, what was the deal with Citadel transport vehicles' headlights?

I think most everything on MEA looks better except for the human faces. Unfortunately that to me is more important than the landscapes in a game like this one.

Obviously ME:A has overall better visual fidelity but ME3 looked much more consistent to me. Yes, there were bad textures in some places and sprite figures in the background during the prologue mission etc., but for me, it was all stuff I only noticed when really looking for it, not while just playing the game. In mE:A, I notice the inconsistency between the beautiful parts (like some of the landscapes and the galaxy map) and the ugly parts (like some characters and the bad lighting in many places) and that to me is worse than having overall subpar graphics, especially if the characters are a problem in such a dialogue focused game.
In fact, my favorite ME games in terms of visuals was probably ME2. It had a very consistent visual feel IMO, there was nothing that stood out wither positively or negatively and that consistency to me is much more important for immersion than having the highest texture resolution in some armor peace or whether there are two or three particle effects in some corner of the game.
Also, lighting is really important and especially because ME:A often doesn't do actual cutscenes in dialogues (where they would use special cinematic lighting), a lot of characters in ME:a look worse than they actually are because of bad lighting, ME2 on the other had mostly (with few exceptions) had superb mostly moody lighting, which made the game look much better than just the assets would usually allow. In that sense, it was a true piece of art, which ME:A cannot quite hold a candle to, IMO.

Environments look better in MEA but npcs look better in the trilogy. Cutscenes are better in the trilogy.

I think Andromeda looks way better. At least on PC. Technically that is. Artistically prefer the (ME2/3) Citadel over the Nexus. I didn't venture too far in the game yet to give an opinion of the rest. Eos looks great, as great as boring desert worlds can look though (as great as the game was: Tatooine was hell of an aesthetically boring place in KotOR. And it's still boring in The Old Republic). I do like the rock formations.
ME3 also had sub-par animations quite occasionally. And ugly low-res textures. Sure Andromeda's facial animations are fine one moment, and awkward the next... or just The Witcher 2's-lack-of-motion-style. I'm sure this is fixable, but if it needs to be done by hand for every single cutscene it won't be ready in a few weeks.

Replaying ME2 and 3 is a pleasurable experience.
Replaying Andromeda involves laborsome driving through mediocre landscapes.

Simple answer, nope! Haven't played ME3 since... god, how long ago? Besides how I enjoyed them all, don't remember any problems with anything, ever. Stuck in the past seems to be a big deal these days. Edit: Shepard is done and dusted, I had my grand run, my great trilogy of of Spectre-ism. If I go back now, it would "open old wounds". Don't need that, it's in a great place. "I hate you all, just let me be old and cranky in peace already" When I have grandchildren, we will revisit the awesome that was the ME franchise. Only thing I miss is the Geth characters from MP in ME3, that IS IT! Juggernaut anyone?

Maybe I'm the only one getting this glitch, but sound cuts out in dialogue right at the end that gets really irritating. I played off of both a disc and the digital download and the problem persists.

MEA looks kinda cartoonish to me and the faces aren't expressive in more then one way usually. Cora always smiles even when she is saying something sad. In ME3 people looked expressive sometimes. And maybe it's just me but it looked better as well all around. I really hope bioware fixes this the next mass effect game. Actually I think ME:A is one best looking games I've ever played it's light-years ahead of MET.

The open worlds of ME:A blow away just about everything. The characters in ME2/3 certainly beat the blank/semi-retarded, dear god the eyes, characters of ME:A.
Not only are MEA Asari Transexual now, but they are all clones with the exact same face.

Not really. The components of MEA are all better than ME3, but the team struggled with lighting and blocking shots/designing scenes. You can tell the designers on ME3 and ME2 had a better handle on how to hide flaws and working with what they had. But MEA still looks light years beyond ME3/2/1 in many instances. The environments are especially well-done and the faces are actually really nice, in the right lighting (I'm talking in terms of textures, etc, not animations.)
Aesthetically? That's very ymmv. I think ME2 is more aesthetically pleasing than any of the other games, for example, even though the textures were terrible and it had it's own animation issues. Great usage of light/shadow and ambiance, Omega is still my favorite hub by far.

The overall graphical quality of MEA is vastly superior to anything from the trilogy. The only thing I think could stand improvement is... hair textures. They could stand to be higher resolution and carry more natural variance in color - they're homogenous to the point they all sort of look like dye jobs. ME3 was a mixed bag there - some colors looked pretty good, others not so much. My first Shepard was a carrot-top redhead through ME1&2, and had her hair dyed for ME3.
There are some differences in body models - salarians are taller, and I've noticed that both salarians and turians have a somewhat different stance / center of gravity. It's like they bend more at the waist and knees and their thighs are pushed forward while their upper bodies sort of lean back. I don't know how else to describe it. Also - I don't think the krogans have shrunk much, if at all. The games led us to believe they were really, really big (800#), but their models were never that big in-game.
The human models have a more average leg length, rather than the longer legs we've seen before. I've also noticed the female model is more hourglass than pear-shaped, which is something I'd hoped they'd do. Plus, the female models have normal sized feet - Liara's feet (and Shepard's in heels) looked teeny, as if they'd undergone chinese foot wrap torture.
Wrt lighting in ME2 - yep, it was moody, and I didn't much like it. Too much contrast, and I always find myself trying to even it out when I play it, to get more detail in the shadows and highlights. Bleah.
Most of the animations are superior to MET, imho. Ryder has the best walk/run/omnitool use animations since ME1. Shepard's ME2 walk always looked like she was approaching a punching bag, with all that extra arm and shoulder movement - gad, I hated that. Facial animations are a different deal, but plenty has been said about that.

Riiiiight. All those crushed blacks and low res textures all over ME3. Did you run out of things to whine about because you're really reaching here.
ME3 didn't even look that good at release, especially on PC.
