Has anyone figured out the screenshot keybinding? There is a screenshot folder for Andromeda (Documents>Bioware) but in the keybindings menu there is no mention of screenshots. The usual suspects like F12 etc. don't work.

The usual suspects like F12 etc. don't work. I've seen this asked a few times before, but no one was able to answer. It's very odd, since, like you said, there's a screenshots folder... Your best bet would probably be to use something like Fraps or Bandicam. I haven't used Fraps before, but I have used Bandicam in the past. It's free, easy to use, and you can assign the output/save folder, and the keybinding for taking the shot. I'm currently using NVIDIA Ansel for ME:A, but Bandicam has worked out very well for me with other games.

I use NVidia GeForce Experience, but I think in another thread, someone said to set the game to borderless window and then PrintScreen would work.

Use MSI Afterburner. I really like this program, it can monitor your hardware resources in the background and show them in deptht on demand, it can also record videos and screenshots.
The screenshot function is nice, for videos I prefer Shadowplay. I tried a lot of programs but Shadowplay delivered me the smoothest experience, almost zero FPS loss.

Ansel doesn't work properly for me in MEA. If you've a 'window' open from a datapad, etc.. it refuses to activate. It also reacts extremely badly to peripherals such as the X-52 Pro HOTAS. Apparently no one at Nvidia thought that someone might use something other than a keyboard/mouse on their PC... Ansel goes absolutely bananas if the X-52 is plugged in, because it's picking up every bloody input on the device. If there's a way to tell it to ignore controllers, I've not found it yet.

GeForce Experience is the new Shadowplay, I think. I agree it's very smooth capturing video. GeForce Experience Share replaced Shadowplay. GeForce Experience, itself, is the software that keeps one's games up to date and makes it easy to download the latest drivers for one's Nvidia GPU. With regards to the OP: There is no streamlined screenshot function in MEA, let alone Origin. You'll need 3rd party software. If you happen to use an Nvidia graphics card, you can use Nvidia GeForce Share (takes screenshots, records footage, and even streams). There's also Nvidia Ansel, which is far more sophisticated and will give you a lot more options, assuming you have a 6-series or later Nvidia GPU. Outside of Nvidia, you are going to have to look for alternative ways of capturing screenshots. AMD may have something, but I haven't used an AMD GPU in years.

The screenshot folder is used when you use "screenshot.render" command in the game console. Taking screenshot this way will leave the console command in it, unless you use another command to remove console.
This is a very inconvenient way to take screenshot so follow other's advice in this thread about taking screenshots.

You could use Fraps or MSI Afterburner, but MEA has a real nice built-in screenshot tool developed by Nvidia that is called Ansel. Left-ALT/F2 to access it.

Origin doesn't have a build in screenshot function, strangely enough. You need a 3rd party. GeForce Experience is a good one if you have one of their cards.

I found the console command 'Screenshot.Render' to work perfectly. There must be some way to bind it via the user.cfg then (I guess). All I know is that PrintScreen only works in windowed\borderless windowed mode, but not in fulscreen.

Can someone recommend a free screenshot program, please? Something that doesn't have watermarks, a demo expiration, etc., etc. I'm using NVIDIA Ansel for composed shots, but it doesn't work during cutscenes. And I play in fullscreen, so PrtScr isn't an option. * I tried Bandicam first, but half the time it won't work, and the other half it does work... but they all come out black. * Then I started using Fraps, and it worked great for a while, and then suddenly stopped. * So then I switched to MSI Afterburner, and again, worked great for a while, and then today it just suddenly stopped. WTF?? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing both Fraps and MSI Afterburner, but it didn't help. And a Google search is turning up so many options that I really don't know what to choose. So I was hoping to get some recommendations!

Since you already have an Nvidia GPU, Nvidia GeForce Share is available to you as long as you have Nvidia GeForce Experience installed. Just activate Share through Nvidia GeForce Experience and you'll be able to take screenshots with Left Alt + F1 in-game. You can also bring up the Share interface with Left Alt + z, where you can change keybindings or do other functions (recording, broadcasting, etc.) I use Share for recording cutscenes as well as taking screenshots during cutscenes.

Neyjour,
Using Alt-F1 with Nvidia's GFE works for the moment. I haven't tried it with a cutscene, however, so YMMV.
If you're on Win 10, FRAPS isn't reliable. The developer was supposed to have updated it, but never did, so it's pretty much abandoned at this point.

Nvidia GeForce Experience is the software that has Share (taking screenshots, recording videos, broadcasting, etc.) incorporated into it. Unless Share is actually activated in Nvidia GeForce Experience, she won't be able to take screenshots.

Thanks guys, but... I just took a look at the NVIDIA Share and I don't really understand how it works... I found my way into the "Gallery" and there were several ME:A screenshots there (I must have accidentally hit the right keys), but I couldn't expand the thumbnails to view/save them. And I don't see anything in settings to save the screenshots to my computer (just options to upload to Facebook, imgur, etc.). I really just want a simple program (like Fraps) that will let me tap a keybind and save directly to a folder (that I designate) on my computer. Oh, I am using Windows 10, so I guess that explains why Fraps suddenly crapped out on me. (Thanks for letting me know!) I wonder if there are issues with Win 10 and MSI Afterburner as well...

I also use Ansel & Nvidia Share as well but find that using alt-f2 has some funkiness with keyboarding after you compose your shot. Alt is the default command for center camera so I'd advise changing that key bind so it doesn't mess with your composition. The Nvidia tool set for capturing in game footage is really good and has no notable impact on performance. That aside Fraps could do the job as well.

And that's it. Nothing about format, quality, saving to my comp, etc. Also, I can't see a way to get rid of the black overlay when I'm finished. I've backed out of the settings and hit the "Done" button, but it won't go away, and I'm locked out of doing anything on my desktop or GeForce Experience. There's no "X" option to close it out, Esc doesn't work, etc. I'm having to do Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get rid of it...

If you're on Windows 10 you can just use the windows key+PrintScreen and it will save the files in a screenshots folder under User/Images. Maybe you have to run the game in borderless windowed mode for this to work but for me it does the job.

Any screenshots you take with Share will be saved in "This PC > Videos > Mass Effect Andromeda" by default. Left Alt + z should close as well as open GeForce Share. Typically, there should be an "X" icon in the top right hand corner of your screen. I don't know what your hardware is, but perhaps your PC is struggling to run MEA as well as the Share overlay on top of it. It shouldn't be an issue if all you want to do is take screenshots (Left Alt + F1) and then find them on your computer (the default location is listed above). I hope that helps. That will be the easiest way to take screenshots without having to rely on more cumbersome methods.

rasande - I play in fullscreen (and PrtScr doesn't work), but thanks. dazk - For cutscenes, I need to be able to just quickly tap a keybind, so opening a console command won't work. Revan Reborn - Okay, thanks for the save location. Just one question, though... I have to toggle Share on (black overlay?) and then use the keybind every time I want to take a screenshot? If that's so, it's not going to work for me. Whatever shot I want to take during the cutscene will have already passed by the time I do that... Or am I misunderstanding how it works? I haven't tested anything with Share in-game. I just opened up GeForce Experience (on my Desktop), and then went into the Share options. But... I see the "X" now. Don't know how the heck I missed it... Too tired and frustrated, I guess. I'm still hoping for some program recommendations, in case Share doesn't work out for me. Already downloaded and tried 2 different ones tonight (Greenshot and Screenshot Captor), and both were a fail. Is there seriously no other alternative, that works like Bandicam, Fraps, or MSI Afterburner?
