Bioware isn't doing a remaster. It's a fan made recreation being done inside UE4 (and in all likelihood one that won't ever see the light of day).

At this point I don't think it's worth their while. It's easy enough for fans to do Texture Mod's to bring up the quality, but the gameplay mechanics are so old new players to the franchise would probably have trouble getting in to it. Best just pick it up on Steam and mod it

Kotor 2 even has Workshop support now.

Take it with a grain of salt. They're an indie studio full of unpaid volunteers who are doing this to pad their resumes. They already have enough working material to showcase at interviews, but the overall project appears to be now in polishing stages. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WAITING IT OUT. The game is free if you already have the original. It will simply overwrite your old game. It's a mod which basically sidesteps the copyright issue. However, I can see some as***** in EA f***ing all that up anyway.
