Something interesting happened today. I was playing the human engie, trying to get recharge speed to the first level. and I noted something, the turret I had did something quite interesting. It was facetanking bosses, many things, and just kicking butt for the team. I did a little bit of digging, and and found, this assault turret, done right, holy bleep can it be a boss.
First, well, fully upgraded, it has 900 health, if the math for +125% of base of its 400 is right. It heals 18 health a second, being fired on not. (More if there are hidden other items), reduces your power costs by 30% Plus, if Tech Sabotage works for your deployables, you are debuffing them for a 30% lower damage for 8 seconds, and a 100% armor debuff output just for pinging them as a turret. You also have auto-freezing everything you get near for near constant overload spam with it down to about 9 seconds from 15, now, between the full channel of cyro blast, the charge of tech, you have a good 3-4 second window of gunfire between things. You park yourself behind cover, at a long angle, and the turret on top of the cover, which lets it fire on everything in range, as they go to close with you, and just get hosed with fire.
It's not about his damage, or his range in the right spot. its about stacking debuffs, boosting you, and being an arse to everything in range.
Offensive tech here, rank 5. It would be nice if they said if it works with the turret, if it does, you have a boost to damage out of your choice, likely shields over armor, given you have quite a few options to just destroy armor between the turret already, and shields are a bit more plentiful.
Cyro blast, taking it to the radius plus snap freeze, you have a massive way to deliver very strong area damage, all the while supplementing it with guns. You aren't mobile with this setup, but you can just endure a metric ton of stuff being flung your way.

Have you used it on gold? Personally felt really sub par on gold & awesome on silver/bronze, so atm Im actually spec with 6 in everything else getting the debuffs on enemies & 1 in turret since it can at least distract for few seconds. So far have had easier runs & most seem quicker.
