She still feels some obligation to Hawke - and I'm not sure why. Like, right, they escaped together and if I remember correctly, Gamlen helped her as well, but she fought alongside Hawke the whole time. Whatever dept she thinks she should repaid is gone. I mean, I can understand standing by friend!Hawke - they can be like Varric (a criminal, yes, but the kind that will make neighborhood better) or Templar supporter (as she usually agrees with templar's view), but her loyalty to rival!Hawke makes no sense.

So: I disagree here. Hawke still can help her, but not agree with her in everything. And rival!Hawke does not necessarily represent the evil. Probably only a different angle of view, and perhaps this angle is good. For example: If Hawke took her into the Fade, after she betrayed Hawke in the Fade, she says, that she understands the Templars at Gallows: every mage must be closed, because if they must to resist such a temptations, they must have so much willpower, she can't understand. So: because she was not able to resist, she wants to close the mages, what is perhaps understandable, but perhaps seems wrong to a mage Hawke, or if Bethany inside of the Circle, and Hawke doesn't agree with this... Hawke here can ask her, she wants to close him/her too... Later, she tries to explain, that so many criminals in Kirkwall, that she started to think about, it would be been a solution, if as at the Gallows the Templars, the Guards would arrest the potential criminals, to prevent the crimes. Hawke here can question her... Or the elves and the guard's case... These are significant disagreements, but Aveline can think about that Hawke perhaps right. Aveline is not perfect, and sometimes she needs to think about it. This does not necessarily make Hawke her enemy. (And still, Hawke performs the guards' work at night.) And I not even mentioned yet, that if Hawke has bad manners, as my current Hawke, for example. True, if Hawke's a criminal inhumane psychopath, too hard to imagine her loyalty.

Well, my rival!Hawkes usually acted like jerks around Aveline, so I guess I have different experience But I believe you it can be played that way as well.

Can't believe I never realized it. Also, that woman's hand is dangerously close to Varric's paragon.
