At least judging from the trend so far where equipment having a +75% bonus seems to be the norm.
Thermal Clip Storage gives +75% more ammo capacity.
Juggernaut Shield gives +10% more max shield and
+75% more melee damage. Judging from this, I extrapolate that the unreleased equipment items do the following:
Adaptive War Amp gives +75% more damage from biotics.
Engineering Kit gives +75% more damage from tech powers.
Combatives Upgrade gives +75% more damage to pistols and assault rifles.
Guerilla Upgrade gives +75% more damage to shotguns and sniper rifles.
'Course, I could be wrong, and the other equipment items could be nerfed relative to the ones we already have, but that'd be silly considering we already have an equipment item that gives +10% shield and
+75% melee damage. The other equipment items would
have to have a similar value just to match its effectiveness.
I find this to be a particularly odd choice on their part. It really
feels like the designers intended for players to be using equipment items right off the bat, hence why everything feels incredibly tanky right now unless you're taking full advantage of the Juggernaut Shield (or the vanquisher, but let's face it - it's probably getting nerfed). There are so many weapons in the game that would probably become viable (not optimal, but at least
usable) with these equipment items, and going for a full power build feels largely pointless without those boosts.
I tried a full power damage vanguard build earlier, but it just felt totally superfluous next to my Juggernaut Shield-abusing melee build. I feel like that would probably be flipped around if we had the Adaptive War Amp available for purchase. And of course, it may very well be that the unstoppable combo-spamming Asari Adept build would return in full force with that.
As of right now the JS makes such a HUGE difference that I don't feel like it makes
sense to try any build that doesn't take advantage of it. +75% is just too high to ignore. I can't justify playing any non-melee build until they release those other equipment items. It's just such a weird state of affairs that I'm wondering
why. Why couldn't we just have a baseline that's 50% higher, and have the equipment items just keep giving those minor 15% boosts? Why do they make such a huge difference that they literally make or break entire character builds?
This game is just full of weird decisions, man. I don't get it.
