What is the best way to find a team to do Gold in this game?

Firstly apologies if this thread is out of place or if I've breached any online etiquette.
Having played the bulk of my ME3 through PUGs, I've never really actively looked for a group of people to play with.
The problem with MEA is that I honestly can't find any Viable Gold Lobbies. Either the game gives up and puts me in my own lobby or it's a lobby full of Level 1 human soldiers who have no idea what they are in for.
As per the stickied post on this forum, I signed myself up for the XBox BSN club. But as an Aussie, no one seemed to be playing multiplayer when I was on? do I just throw an LFG request on the Xbox club and pray that the void calls back?
On reddit there was also a mentioned a discord thing?? The100?? All of these are quite confusing for a Luddite in his mid 30s...
Honestly, what is the most effective way to find a team? Please save me from endless silver PUGs.
Oh and if anyone out there wants to play on Gold on Xbox please add me. I can't carry a team and my mic is busted, but I can listen to instructions and played a lot of ME3 MP.. if that means anything.
