I don't know who made it, but you should fire that guy. Why can't you invest 2 days(literally) in making the UI more intuitive? Instead, we get this console abomination. Creating favorite profiles is a totally retarded process! Here is a screenshot: Why cant I just press the "skill placement hole" and put a skill in there?! Why should i: 1. Return to skill screen 2. Select a skill 3. Press the "assign power" button 4. Repeat for 2 more skills 5. Return back to profiles 6. Hit the favorites and "Load selected" And if you for some reason hit the already assigned favorite - you erase everything you placed before and should repeat the whole process for that skill set once again!!! P.S LOL. I decided to join this forum, and thе insight came to me - stupid processes are the company politics! 1. Select Name and email 2. Prove you are not a robot 3. Recieve activation email and activate Until now it was ok, but 4. Wait 10 hours for the staff approval

First off, the forum joining process has nothing to do with Bioware/Ea - it is merely a safeguard against bots and internet trolls.
As for PC UI... it has been a trend ever since DA 2 - their PC UI has been getting worse and worse, under the guise of console/PC equality.
Dragon Age Origins had a beautifully crafted UI for its time, with almple space for majority of your abilities. And even when new dlc and expansion added new powers and skills, it could be modded so pc players could fit everything on their hotbar.
Come DA II - and 'ui streamlining'. Gone were artistic hotbars, and intuitive inventory system. We got console clone in its place. And it did not get any better.
By the time Inquisition rolled around, it was glaringly obvious that UI design for PC never even entered their designers' radar. There was a huge outcry, much louder than all the complains about DA II UI, but we barely got some hotkey functionality back and that was it.
Andromeda? On top of convoluted UI design that only makes sense when you are on a console, we also lost control over squad-mates. Remember when we could design our team/choose squad-mates to compliment our character and be able to execute powerful combos? Yeah, if you look at the trend it will never happen again.

I despise every aspect of the UI with a burning passion, and I play on console. I can't even imagine how frustrating it is on PC.
It honestly feels like the team responsible for the UI in the original trilogy - which while never truly stellar, was above average - was horribly murdered and replaced by a group of perpetually aroused bonobos.

They must know PC users are still a huge sale. So why not make thing right? Not worth it for them when in the long run, more people will have pirated the PC version than actually purchased it. EA's gotta follow the dollars.

Ironically, Mass Effect 1 had the best menus for PC, and that actually was a port. I didn't like ME2's lack of scroll wheel support and double click, and neither ME2 nor ME3 had menu shortcuts. We got all those things in MEA, but then someone decided that the scroll wheel should alter your selection instead of just scrolling the view. To top it all off, all my keyboard prompts are in French for no reason. I don't think the DAI menu designers deserve much praise, though. DAI had horrendous menu design for PC. For starters, everything was enormous to the point that you had to drag the skill trees to see them fully. There's also that bug where the tooltip doesn't update when selling items until you wiggle your mouse. This video demonstrates it.

It would be interesting to hear from a console user. I suspect that at least some of the problems are common. My particular issue is with the map process - hit M key to enter map, press ESCAPE TWICE to return to game. This really has to be a toggle. They have give choices for other keys, why not here? Also, map appears in fully zoomed out view, so the space ship view is incredibly small. Is there ever going to be anything OUTSIDE which will show up on the map? If not, why not expand each map to use the full available area? These are like an incurable itch, you either want to scratch it or the person who gave you the itch.

Heh. For me, I've swapped out V for holster with H for holster. I'm constantly hitting something else though, and having to press ESC four or five times to get back to the main screen.
I mean, who looks at V and goes, "Yah, that's what I think of when I think of holstering my weapon." WTF?!

Also, they is zero utilization of the keyboard and mouse... no holding R to holster, no mouse button 4 to go back, etc.

Another user found you can get out of Map by hitting TAB. Totally agree with the map being zoomed out. Be nice if it zoomed to the size of explored area, but I don't know how difficult that would be.

I wonder if they will allow 3rd party addons? Someone at Bioware must have seen the console control mods for ME1-3 PC version. Will they support 3rd Party addons/mods? I Don't know. Don't care. I will use mods... especially a UI mod period.

When was the last time you saw them play their games, and what were they using? An Xbox pad. BioWare have been using an Xbox pad to play their games on PC for years. So it is sadly not surprising that the UI in the PC games has suffered. I think DA:O has been about the only exception to that.

Kudos to you After God-alone knows how many wasted minutes of fruitless clicking, and seeing various skills replaced with an exclamation mark, I just gave up. Many of the in-game systems are very poorly explained. Planetary mining in the Nomad is another such system. I had to use Google to work out how to use it - and any game mechanic that forces users to look outside the game for help and instructions is a poor game mechanic.

This video demonstrates it.It's ironic because they seemed to have attempted to do scrollable lists in DAI properly but gave up half way. In ME2/3 it behaves exactly how it would with a controller. The 'cursor' is fixed in the middle of the list and you scroll the entire list up and down, focus remains on the middle item. In DAI you could select any item on the list, but if you did anything, scroll, sell etc, it would put your selected item to the middle of the list anyway, instead of remaining where you left it. In the little I saw of MEA the lists at least seemed to be working fine. I didnt play around with them much though. Keyboard prompts in French? Sounds like a localization problem on your PC to be honest.

Yeah I seem to remember something along those lines too. Pretty sad really, but this is the first game, at least to me where it was really noticeable. The menus and such are a mess. Hopefully they will patch in a better UI for us in the coming weeks/months.

Keyboard prompts in French? Sounds like a localization problem on your PC to be honest. It's really odd. I have a Belgian AZERTY keyboard but it's set to Dutch in Windows. The problem isn't specifically MEA, though. It was unfair of me to imply that.

While it certainly has some prominent issues on PC, like having buttons appear based on what UI the mouse was last over (works for console where it stays highlighted but bad idea for pc), what you outlined isn't really a fault with the PC UI, that's just general feedback. Being able to pick skills like you suggest would have been perfectly intuitive on console too.
If I had to guess the skills screen came first, favourites came after, they didn't consider this as they were already used to the existing skill screen.
