Hey all,
So I own the Super deluxe version of MEA, and my friend owns the Deluxe version. Her internet is really crappy, so I always need to host the games (been doing it since ME3). But when we tried to play together today, she couldn't join my game. I first created a private game, so she could join me without the need to hurry, but she got a message basically saying she couldn't join my game because I owned the Super Deluxe, and she didn't. So I tried with a public game, thinking it might change things, but it didn't. She got the same message.
She then tried to create a private game of her own, and I could join her no problem. But it's really not a viable solution, her connexion is too laggy to be able to host a game, especially MEA.
Anyone else having that problem? Is there a way to work around it? She was willing to upgrade to the Super Deluxe so we could play together, it's been a long tradition of ours, but upgrading isn't an option. And it's always much more fun for us to play together than to just play with random people.
Thanks for the help!

Doubt it is a version issue. The game is the same. The only difference between D and SD is the added drops of packs for MP. I have D, the majority of the folks I play with have SD and it's no problem.
That said ... in ME3MP, we had issues at times with friends not being able to join our lobbies. Then, it would go away. I'm guessing it is something server side (Origin) that is not allowing it. Could also be a firewall issue.
But the bottom line, buying an SD version would be a waste of money if you're trying to fix a connection/joining lobby issue. If she wants the premium packs ... well, that's her choice, but it's not going to fix the connection issue.

Oh, she's not going to buy an SD version. She was only willing to upgrade her own version if it had been made possible by Bioware.
The message she got did make it seem like it was a compatibility issue. That, and the fact that I was able to play with her (since I'm the one with the higher version), really seemed to point out to incompatibility.
We'll try again later tonight, maybe the MP will finally work properly again, it has been horrendous today. But if it's still does not work, I guess I'll try to contact Bioware directly. I was just hoping someone here might have had the same issue and knew of an easy fix.
I really hope that's not the case, or that'll piss me off so much. It would be ridiculous to keep people with a D version from playing with the people that have the SD version.

Again, it's not the difference between D and SD. And it is something that shows up periodically in ME3MP ... and was never fixed.
A workaround we used in ME3MP ... have a third friend start a lobby ... when we've had the "can't join" issue ... joining the lobby of the third friend usually worked.
A PITA sometimes, but maybe worth trying.

No third friend playing ME for us, sadly. Guess we'll try again for a couple of days, and if the issue isn't fixed, I'll contact Bioware.
A PITA?

As far as friends ... the looking for folks thread ... I'm sure you can find some folks to add to a FL and play the game.
If gold isn't your thing, plenty of folks playing silver and there is a bronze group starting up.
Seriously, lots of good folks out there ... find someone from your region (to limit lag) and go for it.

Thanks, but as I've said, neither of us is interesting in buying MEA again just so we can play together. That would be expensive and stupid. What the hell is wrong with Origin, that they think the Deluxe and Super Deluxe are two different games?
I'll look into finding a third party, but we both have weird schedules, so it might not be easy. But thanks!

In ME3MP (PC) lobby glitch varied sometimes joining a 3rd party would solve it or a round of full system reboots were required. Occasionally Origin was just screwing with you for the day and you had to do something else and next day it was fine.
I have SD pack and play with friends that have the normal version and the deluxe version without a problem.

For those of you who can play with your friends regardless of which version they own, is it on computer? And who hosts the game? Is it the one with the "lowest" version? Because I can play with my friend if she hosts the game, but she can't play with me if I host the game. We've tried over 3 different days, tried rebooting Origin and even our computers, and we still have the issue.

It's clearly a bug, post it on the EA Answers forums, and make @tibermoon and @ehlien aware of it on Twitter so it has visiblity.
