Eos side missions and the radiation

I've finished the main quest on Eos and I want to do some side quests. I can see some markers in unexplored areas of the map and ways to get there but every time I try I'm hit with level three radiation and in one place a barrier saying I was leaving the mission zone. Is there some way to get to the quest locations or do I have to wait until the radiation has cleared some more?
