MIC RANT - OH MY GOOODNESS WITH THE MIC

I don't expect random people to say anything interesting so i just turned it off. There're better ways to communicate with someone you want to play with anyway.

I came into one game, two guys just talking away to each other. One of them says, "I don't know it I want to play with Dave the Scrub."

I switched on my mic and said, "You know I can hear you right?"

Embarrassed silence followed.

Blame Bioware and their poor design decisions. People are in 99% of the cases not doing it on purpurse, rather they don't know that it is turn on by default!

Joined a pug lobby with a guy who had a major feedback loop so I muted him.  Then when the match started his kit said "Boots on the ground!" but of course to my mind it sounded like "Boobs on the ground!" so of course that sparked a conversation about buttsex and how girls butts are the same as guys butts and if you're going to do a girl in the butt then you might as well do a guy in the butt know what I'm saying?

Well I never got to hear his reply because he was, of course, muted.  Actually none of them had anything to contribute to that conversation.  So I suppose my point was made, and they all had something to think about.

That's why the first function in MP I figured out was how to mute someone. Very first thing. Of course, the second thing I did was figure how to set up push-to-talk so I wouldn't be an annoying ass myself.

If the fucking mic icon actually worked and showed people that they're transmitting voice it would be a start. Now someone spams the mic and ive got no idea who it is.

Also a chatbox would help then you could actually tell the person that they're mic is on.

And people defend mics over a chat box, oh the irony.

I don't know if I'm just unlucky as hell or what, but 90% of the time someone with a mic is either doing some cringy shit, has some music playing in the background (imagine the shitty sound quality), there's static playing at a ridiculously high volume, or they leave the mic open and it catches the action from their side, so you're hearing a constant echo of the game with a 5 sec delay.

People just assume they have to bring cancer to the internet just because they have a mic it seems.

I was lucky (although it didn't make it any less embarrassing) that in my first MEAMP match someone was able to tell me that they could hear what I was saying, me not knowing that the voice settings were turned on by default. Like someone said already, I'm pretty sure the VAST majority of players don't even know that their mic is being broadcast.

I don't know if Bioware can patch the game in a way that voice for multiplayer is off by default, but they really should.

I mute all 3 teammates before every game starts. The voice quality has been less than stellar, and mostly I just hear people's game sounds, feedback or sometimes cursing and carrying on without, it seems to me, them knowing their mic is hot. Pretty funny. Bioware gonna get sued for the open mic without the user's knowledge thing once someone disseminates CC info unwittingly.

yes, not only poeple singing, just talking very loud or even the sound and noise from him/her game in some sort of echo in my game, it's very irritating
