It's hard not to write this and not let the negative aspects of it overwrite the positive but its happened.
The visuals looks stunning, you can tell they really worked hard on it. Sadly, thats about where it ends for me. Yet again, we have the same god damn fucking issues we had in Inquisition. Everytime I'm speaking to a character and there isnt a cut scene I can barely hear them. Did nobody test this? I can hear everything else perfectly fine.
The combat seems fresh and takes a little while to get used to especially the cover system which I'm ok with but because im not flat against it I'm never quite sure whether its cover or not. Enemies seem a lot smarter this time, trying to flank me rather than just hunkering down.
On the point of quests, whats with the not telling me when I still have shit to do? For about an hour, I thought my journal was broken and it turns out you didnt tell me that I still had crap to do. I'm not psychic Bioware and neither are you it would seem.
My team mates on the other hand.... I may as well not bother. Either give me full control over my team mates or dont fucking bother Bioware! I dont not want a half ass control scheme. The amount of times I have had to take 5+ enemies down by myself before my team mates "wake up" and realise they have a fucking job to do is ridiculous!
Why am I not allowed to upgrade their armour? Why am I not allowed to give them better weapons? Why are you constantly changing shit that doesnt need to be changed?
Having said that, I really like all of the cast so far. I know I probably shouldnt and its because the game still has that new game smell, but thank god we dont have a Sara-esque character in there.
I had my first blue screen of "fuck you" yesterday so that was fun. and lag.....a lot of lag. So i am currently in the process of reinstalling the game hoping the problem quietly goes away along with a host of minor issues.
If we dont get a patch soon I may have a meltdown..

I'm just struck by the oddity of reading some of these comments. Because it really is like night and day reading some of this stuff compared to what I have been doing. I cannot count the number of times that my squad has bailed me out and used their powers effectively. Whether its Liam throwing a grenade taking out a group of bad guys, or Cora charging into the fray right in front of me, or Vetra overloading a power combo. My squad does not need commands because they know what to do most of the time. Only issue is they sometimes stand out in the open under heavy fire, but then I usually do not position them much either...and this was a constant problem with the OT too.

I find the ai team mates much more useful than previously, but then I have never been one to control them so I don't miss the functionality.

I wind up priming and detonating everything myself. The Peebee Vetra combo seems to work with my explorer. But not much else outside of Drack being a monster in his own right syncs up. @op It helps to listen to squadmates Peebee will call out "losing Gravity in 3 2 1" Cora "Enemy is primed" I havent heard the others outside of "nice shot"

Agree with the lack of control on squad mates, but the journal seems fine, I had no issue, what do you mean it's not telling you wnat to do?

Around 30 hours, my enjoyment is increasing, but these are down to personal preference, yes? I never changed companion weapons in the Trilogy.
The more I'm seeing complaints (yet appreciating the game) the more I'm concluding that the polarized debate is not because it's bad (mostly) but because it's different.

The combat experience in this game varies with playstyles. From watching gameplay footage on Youtube, I notice different playstyles will result in very different experiences with squadmates. Myself for instance, I am a charge first Vanguard. My squadmates could be somewhere else fighting whatever or just running towards me trying to keep up so I dont notice them much and since I detonate my own combos, I pay them no mind... except for Cora She always charges enemies I am about to kill and kill steal my glory or place herself between me and my target blocking my my melee. Nope, not taking her along anymore. Vetra on the other hand is a good girl, she just sit back and shoot that gun of hers and act intimidating.

I'm not as upset about animations as some of the more vocal people, that has never been Bioware's strong point. I also don't feel so bad about females being savagely beaten with the ugly stick. I mean, after DAI it was clear that was the direction Bioware wanted to take, even if it's lore breaking how every asari now has the same ugly round mug. I can deal with blatant gay and trans in your face pandering. I mean, after notKrem rubs in your face how trans he is on Eos once in first dialogue, and then it's over and you don't have to hear about it again. What really brings my enjoyment down is the side content quality. www.gamespot.com/articles/mass-effect-andromeda-has-meaningful-sidequests-bi/1100-6447751/Meaningful sidequests my ass. Go scan these 3 things. Go plant these 5 things. Go scan these very specific 10 rocks, just any rock won't do. Come on Bioware. I know it's the C team but just a little effort on the content por favor. 100%ed Eos and feeling strong urges to completely skip all the side content on other planets.

That the team mates seem less than useful in a fight, hasn't bothered me. Means there's more for me to kill!

I find the ai team mates much more useful than previously, but then I have never been one to control them so I don't miss the functionality. I agree with this because I didnt command my squad either. I keep my gun holstered when I want them to hang back, but I do like Cora charging and taking aggro the way she does. The AI is better in this one IMHO. The enemies flank and use real tactics, too.
