Well, I didn't read through the previous 11 pages, but I imagine it's littered with names like Dick, Pussy, Butt, etc...  I might go silly with something like Sky or Joy. Honestly, I'd prefer to have set first names so our closest friends, companions, and/or lover(s) actually use our first name. It's a bit jarring when you've just shared an intimate moment with your lover to hear: "I love you, Ryder." Maybe Bio could take a similar tact as with Sera in DAI and give you a pet name (lover, snookums, whatever...)and have the pet name change depending who your partner is. Beats Shepard or Ryder. |

I have no idea how the name from my Ryder will be. However, I know I will cry for my Ryder when he losing his father. ;.; I cried for my Hawke when he lost his mother, because he did not so much.  This time the HC should show some more reactions to this scene and that we will have similiar chance to get to know the father like we did it on some way with Leandra. After all, the death of the Cousland family did not matter me and when I saw my Cousland he thought a similar thought. |

Traditionally, I've used the first name to ID the gender, class, attitude and sometimes LI of the character. They end up being nonsense names, but for ME, it helped know what the "Shep" had done in the earlier part of the trilogy, once I got to ME3.
Probably totally dorks up the notion of specifying the name in ME:A. Also, not as important if ME:A is not a trilogy.
In DA the same method worked well, because even though I didn't carry the same protagonist from game to game, I did carry the same gender, class and attitude across the games.
It also helped me remember which classes, genders, etc., I'd done, so as I started a new run, I knew what I hadn't tried yet.
If ME:A captures my imagination the way the original trilogy did, then I will end up running a bunch of plays through, which will probably mean more nonsense names for Ryder, just to help me track the variations.
