Yeh, I completely agree though. I don't understand why they couldn't have come up with a different name. Sride, Stride, Saride, Pride, anything other than Ryder. Hell, even Rydder would have been better. Like, "Rid-er" instead of how they spelled it "Ride-er".

i really like pathfinder's setting but i REALLY don't like how focused on min/maxing the rules are. it's designed from the ground up by and for min/maxer's and autists. the rest of us normies have to play on crayon eater difficulty just to hit a target.

Ryder, in this case, is a derivation of "Ride", as in Sally Ride, the first American woman in space. Just as Shepard was named after Alan Shepard, the first American man in space.

Yah, take a look a few pages back at Dick Ryder. I mean, I know where it comes from. I'm just complaining about why they couldn't have called her something different.

i really like pathfinder's setting but i REALLY don't like how focused on min/maxing the rules are. it's designed from the ground up by and for min/maxer's and autists. the rest of us normies have to play on crayon eater difficulty just to hit a target.

I usually make my characters like me and name them after me.
This time I will not do this entirely.
I will name my character Chloe,which is what my mom wanted to name my sister if she ever had another girl but I ended up a lonely child after all.
So Chloe it is.Maybe change the spelling to Kloe for more intended "futurism"

But then again ....I was also thinking of Cayde or Caydee after my favourite character in Destiny who is voiced by Nathan Fillion and is a badass.

Yah, not a female Dick Ryder. In all honesty, my father's first name is Richard and he goes by Dick. So, it's never been a really big thing to me. It either must be just a northern thing or it's getting phased out by the millennials. *shrug*

I honestly haven't given it that much thought. Low Ryder? DudeRyder looks a bit like Jimmy Olsen from the golden age Superman comics, (sans freckles), so maybe Jimmy or James for a default. Susan for the girl? Maybe? I dunno.
