Ryder should turn back now because if that really is a black hole and it gets set off, game over

There are black holes in the middle of every major galaxy. We have one in the Milky Way called Sagittarius A*.

Strictly speaking, a black hole shouldn't be visible except as a lensing effect on the stars behind it, but that would be hard to render in-engine, so it's forgivable. Other than that, this seems to be a fairly realistic depiction of one. That is, it sits around, not doing much except being a gravitational singularity decaying due to hawking radiation.

How exactly does one 'set off' a black hole? What sort of forces would counteract the infinite density holding it together in the first place? 40 NOVA bombs would be a good start. (If you are a real Andromeda fan) Fun fact, Mass Effect: Andromeda is actually a prequel to Andromeda, the black hole in Helius is one and the same as the one which grips the Andromeda Ascendant in its vice like gravitational clutches! Rumor has is Mass Effect: Andromeda 2 will actually be titled Mass Effect: Commonwealth. And interestingly SAM is used as a foundation for all shipboard AI used in the future as well.
