So apparently many people like it and I'm going crazy here. This is such an unnecessary annoyance, omg. Or someone at Bioware is an evil sadist. I don't even explore planets anymore, can't stand those stupid animations. Also it takes like five minutes to get from a planet to a planet. Imagine there was 30 second animation of people walking across mountains whenever you tried to fast travel in Dragon Age Inquisition. People would die of old age half-way through.
P.S. - it absolutely doesn't just hide loading screens, as someone pointed out already you have to suffer through the animation even if you go to a non-landable planet. Which should load in like two seconds with my rig. Plus I'd MUCH rather have some nice concept art pictures as loading screens, for example, than the repetitive animations that drive me on the ceiling.

I suspect the reason for the longer load times is to do with the game loading the environment around the tempest for each planet. You know, when you look out the window and see space. I think it's a really good feature, so if that's the price I have to pay so be it. But couldn't they have had the view outside of the Tempest without needing to see those scenes every time you travel from one area to another?

Hence a new environment has to be loaded each time you travel.

I really like it. I love all the hidden loading screens, they keep me immersed in the game. And the galaxy map is so beautiful. I was watching solar flares in one system on the background of the planet I was scanning. Amazing attention to detail. It's kind of a huge part of the whole explore space for me - enjoying the view! Jump, me too. I love watching where I am going while traveling, it makes everything feel connected. This is beautiful to look at and it keeps me in the story, in the space-mood

Typically, these types of loading screens drive me nuts, but the damn external environments and animations are so damn pretty I'm not minding as much.

It was neat the first 5-6 times. Then it becomes tedious. Scanning for anomalies and picking up mineral deposits takes muuuch longer than previous games. It really sucks the fun out of exploring. Like someone else I either smoke up during the transitions or I alt tab and browse the web while it loads.
