What, you mean that hiding behind boxes and keeping cloak up as much as possible is not a good tactic? Geez... No wonder people don't like me in games... No, seriously, thanks for the weapon tips. In SP I liked to use valiant for my infiltrator Shepard. Is that any good in MP too?

In SP I liked to use valiant for my infiltrator Shepard. Is that any good in MP too? The Valiant in MP is Ultra Rare, which means you must spend a very long period before getting it to a higher level. It has moderate damage as a UR sniper rifle, and tries to cover the lack of firepower with low recoil and quick reload speed -- not a successful strategy. Below Gold difficulty you need to make its every bullet a headshot to rival a Black Widow or Javelin user. On platinum, this simply does not work.

Very nice, OP. Here are some link suggestions (so you don't have to search them) and additional comments: When building your character, plan the powers you'd most like. Narida's Build Calculator is invaluable, and there are many guides in Crimson's Build Library.Suggested Links: NaridaKalenceCrimson's Build LibraryAs with every game, there are known bugs, and three worth knowing when choosing your builds: don't choose Shockwave Rank 4 Radius, Electric Slash Rank 4 Detonate, or Snap Freeze Rank 6 Tech Combo. More info in my Guide to Guides. Comment: Maybe add Tactical Scan - Headshot bonus evolution isn't applied. One of the most mistakes I see is equipping piercing mods/AP ammo on projectile weapons. A comment+link might be helpful. Suggested Links: Known Bugs and glitches threadGuide to Guides Mods not working on certain weaponsThere's a complete set of links for game mechanics in the Guide to Guides. See the third post for links to excellent tips on Multiplayer, including Sirian's Tips for the Intermediate Player, like the use of 'soft cover' and 'right-hand advantage' to protect you while shooting an enemy.
Suggested Links: Guide to GuidesResource Library (can't link that often enough) For me one of the most basic things was to learn how to set up biotic/tech combos. Especially with a poor manifest thats your main source of damage in the early MP hours. Suggested Link: List of biotic and elemental (tech) combosAgain, threads like these are well appreciated and I wish I were new to MP and could learn it all again by reading well written guides like this.

In SP I liked to use valiant for my infiltrator Shepard. Is that any good in MP too? Valiant is very user friendly with low recoil and fast reload. If you can land more or less reliable headshots, it will serve you well. Another easy to handle weapon is widow with phasic ammo. There is no need for headshots in the case of mooks.

If you can land more or less reliable headshots, it will serve you well. The Valiant is also pretty much guaranteed to prime ammo effects if the target survives. Between that and it's low weight I'd suggest using it on a ranged caster instead of a weapons kit such as an infiltrator once your manifest is good enough to start putting the really big guns such as the widow and the claymore in your infiltrators hands. It's still a decent early option for an infiltrator if you're one of those people who manage to get one very early on, just don't expect it to feel as powerful as it does in SP.

Good folks, does the MP module have any sort of the interactive interface, and how is it enabled, when etc? For example, if I get into the Lobby, before I press 'ready' is there a way to type something like "Good evening. Sorry, I am new" to the other 3 players?
Any sort of a chat window that I can say something between waves, like ask whom I can follow/is it okay to follow? There is a window that has a combat log, is it a chat interface?
Does a chat line appear if you click on it? Or is it all supposed to be done with a 3rd party VoiP via friending/grouping out of the game?
Is the 4M the only mode of play, i.e. there is no 8M or 16M etc?
Thank you!

There is a command console that you can enable (on PC) by doing according to the instructions here
Also I think people use a lot of voice chat and there's a Discord channel to MP too. I'm at work at the moment so I can't help you with the discord right now.

Oh, great, thank you!
Sheesh, I hope they will have it as a perma-feature in the Andromeda MP. Communication is a Good Thing.

Hi folks, could you answer another noobie question:
Is the weapon mod accumulation really slow or am I tremendously unlucky? All of my blue weapons got maxed out by now, but in mods, I miss half of them, and I hardly progressed the ones I have (I think only one out of twelve reached level V). Is it normal for the basic gear acquisition to be that uneven?

Yes, as they say this is "random", "RNG", "Troll shop", etc., pick one. Point is you need to buy lotsa packs to progress, this is the fact driving the "best shop strategy" creating hobby.

I got the RNG part, I am just wondering if the weapon mods are THE RNG hang-up in terms of progression (I understand that the species kits are also very rare and numerous, but they are not essential to being able to play per se, they are the 'cosmetics'/'rewards' rather than 'essentials')
So, I gather, the game doesn't hatez me personally then. good, good.

Mods also arrive on silver and gold cards, so they queue up for luck the same as weapons. Slow progress means you are at a shallow part of the random probability curve, also known as "sucks". Yep, the hate is not personal, the shop hates EVERYBODY.

Yep, the hate is not personal, the shop hates EVERYBODY. Ah, I was told that this is all in the name of making the progression meaningful & elevating the sense of achievement, and all that. And that it always could be worse, like the weapons might break every time you try to add the mods in, or the advancement card may fail, and the higher the level of your weapon, the higher is the chance of failure rate. I've been unwise to try a Korean MMO, so I've stared into the Abyss.

Is the weapon mod accumulation really slow or am I tremendously unlucky? It is really slow. I've built three different accounts, and maxing Ultra Rares is the only thing that consistently takes longer than maxing mods. When mods were originally released, they had a drop rate that corresponded to their rarity - common, uncommon, and rare. If you were lucky enough to be playing regularly at that time, you could max your common mods (and most of your uncommon ones) in a few weeks. Unfortunately, for reasons they have never disclosed or explained, the drop rate was dramatically changed sometime in 2012. It's almost as though they bumped each one's rarity up a category (but not really.) From what I remember on my alt accounts, which were both started after the drop rate changed, I had long since maxed all of my common and uncommon weapons before I came anywhere close to maxing my common mods. I believe I maxed my mods out on PS 3 at around the same time I maxed my rare weapons, so that took many months. The big ones are AP barrel mods, which make the early PuG life so much easier. Once you have those for each weapon, you're in a good position.

My advice would be that if you notice you don't get any more weapon upgrades, start buying the next priced pack, even if you haven't maxed the guns you can with said pack. When I started I remember I practically only bought the 5k pack and weapon upgrades stopped appearing before maxing the guns I wanted to (maybe uncommons? that I don't remember). Moving to the 20k one got me both the mods upgrades and the guns.
In my experience, weapon mods, particularly the armor penetration ones are far more important than a higher level gun.

Yes, I've started buying the Veteran packs, and spending the day's leftovers on a couple of the Recruit ones, just so I do feel I bought something! That's my way of dealing with the RNG.

Hi good folks, could anyone explain the Scions to me? I keep trying to see the animations, but I can't see the tell for that DoT of imminent Doom or whatever is it that they cast that kills you. Mostly interested in what to do with Scions on Adepts and Vanguards in Bronze Tier. Thank you!

Mostly interested in what to do with Scions on Adepts and Vanguards in Bronze Tier. Thank you! Scions don't have DoT attacks. Only abomination explosions do DoT against the collectors. If you're hit by a scion shot, it will prevent you from recharging shields until the blue glow is gone. (If the glow even shows, lag can prevent it) Scions (especially if possessed) are just huge armor sinks that soak up damage. They're weak to biotics and heavy-shot double hits through their head and "shoulder" weak spot. From distance they're a pain, but it's pretty easy to dance around them in close, forcing their melee animation. This will prevent them from shooting, or spamming grenades. Adepts use biotics, if the scion is possessed, you'll have to keep moving to avoid grenades. Otherwise, right hand advantage and keep an eye out for flanking abombs. Vanguards can dance around in close, but move out of melee distance if the scion happens to hit you with their swing or else you'll get synced.
