I am curious if there are any stats on this. As big as the maps in DAI were it seems like they are dwarfed by the ones in MEA. The only DAI maps that might have been as big as the MEA ones were the Hissing Wastes and the Hinterlands and even then if I was driving around them on the Nomad they would probably feel small.

IIRC they said before launch that one planet (the main, open-world ones) is larger than all of DAI's maps combined.

ME:A is much bigger, particularly when you take into account that in a lot of ME:A's maps you're zipping along in the Nomad. The Nomad would have made the Hinterlands seem more like Havarl.

MEA is bigger but feels less bloated because you're primarily driving from point to point, which is good because IMO it fixes the DA:I formula open world.
I really hope DA4, should they iterate on DA:I, they make a horse-carrier or a Lyrium-buggy to ride on with the entire party. Oh man I hope DA4 will be great! Patrick being lead for the first time and knowing what he did for DA:I makes me excited. I'm skeptical over the lack of David Gaider though :S I'm afraid his vision for the DA-verse (which I think I understand) will be gone.

If you take the Western Approach and compare it to Eos (two maps with similar geography) it would probably take up Podromos and the surrounding canyon area and that is still just a small fraction of the EOS map. I am wondering how many DAI maps you could fit on EOS or Eladen (sp?)

Most of the stuff he has written while at Bioware is gold. Also Darrah and Laidlaw are decent team leaders compared to whatever goes on at Montreal. I have no real fear of Dragon Age 4 being poor or average.

I have no real fear of Dragon Age 4 being poor or average. I still think time will tell that people took David Gaider for granted as Lead Writer. DA4 is going to feel different for sure, but after Trespasser and Solas' overall arc and the fact that Patrick is one of those BioWare writers that can actually write full novels in his sparetime makes me excited. My only criticisms of him as a writer is that I think he's too optimistic and sugarcoaty when he attempts to be introspective and thoughtful and I think his humorous dialogue in the ME Trilogy ranges from ok-funny to downright cringe-inducing (like the "Big stupid Jellyfish" callback in ME3, erck!). He has a certain range for sure when it comes to overall style but overall he's really capable.

Patrick Weekes makes me very optimistic about DA4. His contributions for both DA and ME are quite good.

So who's going to jog across the maps?

I think MEA is much larger, it just doesn't seem like it because you're driving around in the Nomad. If you had to run everywhere in MEA, I'm sure it would be obvious which one was larger.

While I like that the maps were bigger, I would have liked variety. What DAI had going for it was that each of the ten areas was very different therefore giving you ten actual places. As big as MEA is, you have five planets (well four and a half -- I count Harvarl as .5)
