By the fact that all the Asari characters have the same face with very minor differences! (markings around the eyes) Like I know there have been threads about this and I have been able to live with the problems regarding character models until this quest but for some reason it just really ruined that one. The whole time I was just thinking about how they all look the same and not paying proper attention to what was going on. How did anyone at Bioware even think this was ok? Not only do the Asari all have the same face but the differences in skin tones and markings are really minor and quite a lot of them don't even have unique markings.

Not only do the Asari all have the same face but the differences in skin tones and markings are really minor and quite a lot of them don't even have unique markings. Well, let's see. The race has the genetic components from exactly one species. I don't claim to really understand what the father's of asari children bring to the table but it's not DNA (or what passes for that in non-human races). That could account for similarities among the asari and even why many use facial markings - it's a way of distinguishing them. I'm sure there's a real world more blase reason for them looking the same but here's an "in universe" type of solution.

I've been watching videos of ME:A, and I noticed it too. Their faces all seem to look alike (besides Peebee), and it's creeping me out a little. It's not that it's an unpleasant face. It's just a little surreal.

ME1 : Enemies everywhere! MEA : Dr Lexi everywhere!
I can guess where the five years work went to; environment, armor, vehicle and craft system. The rest took a back seat, very far back I'd say, for them to take the most convenient / easy route; clone the asari.

But I love the Asari. Also isn't Sarisa's face a bit more unique than the other Asari? I know that her new second has a typical Asari face but I remember siding with Sarisa cause she looked unique.

The thing about the OT was, that the asari all just looked rather generic. Everybody kinda looked that way and it was ok. The facial markings were very cool though and you could differentiate between them well.
What makes me feel really weird in Andromeda though, is that the "Lexi face" looks... How should I put it... Unique in the sense, that the face shouldn't be found everywhere. Imagine if they had reused Mirandas face verywhere in the OT. She looks unique in her own way, not like an average npcs you forget in like 2 seconds. Her face had these special aspects, that made her feel very different from usual CC npcs and recognizable.
Lexi doesn't really look like an unimportant npc when you meet her for the first time, so it's really fucking weird starting to see her face literally everywhere. They are literal clones. Not even average cc-face npcs, they are literal clones. How could they think that's a good idea is beyond me.
All the races look this generic in Andromeda imo. Some Turian npcs in the OT used to have some reeeally cool markings on their faces, but I almost never see that in Andromeda. The Salarians too.

The animations didn't bother me too much, but this really did. Particularly on the Asari Ark.
How hard was it to give the aliens with human faces different faces? Even if there were only three or four variants it would have been better than making them a species of clones.

Yeah true, there were never many heads for asari and I think a lot of them used Liara's model. They had a lot more variety in skin tones/textures, eye colours and markings though. Like the Turians and Salerians at least seem to have that still, not as good as in previous games but still there is some variety. The Asari have barely anything. Anyway yeah, I don't think you can really get away with this anymore, reused faces with these kinds of detailed graphics is just more noticeable and annoying. It evben annoyed me in the Witcher Three, there were a few faces that kept popping up and that wasn't nearly half as bad as this, they didn't do it with important npcs.

This honestly bothers me more than the animations. It's OK if you don't meet several Asari in a row, but when you interact with 4 of them in conversations and they look like clones, you can't ignore it.
I mean, lots of other races also share a face (Turians, Angarans, Krogans) but they're different enough from humans that it's less noticeable. Asari are blue humans with weird hair, so it definitely sticks out.
