Who did you side with when things finally came to a head between Gil and Kallo?
Personally, while I sympathized with Kallo's feelings, I couldn't help feeling that Gil had the much stronger point that the Tempest wasn't built with the kett and the Scourge in mind, and the crew could be in danger if they don't adapt.

I sided with Kallo. Both out of sympathy for his feelings and because there is a time and place to upgrade and modify a ship and it is not while it is out in space.

That was a damned stupid binary decision they forced on you. The obvious choice would have been talk it out and basically convince them to work together Which of course does happen later in a heart warming after school special moment.

I knew Gil was right and sided with him, but not without feeling like a douchebag. My intereactions with Kallo seemed somewhat limited for the rest of the game and I always wondered if it was the result of my choice or if there just wasn't that much content for him compared to the rest of the ship. Had been spoiled by all that back and forth with Joker.

I sided with Gil. Kallo didn't love it, and I understood his feelings, but he was letting his emotions rule. Besides, a thing I did later made him absolutely love me.

Kallo.
In it, you tell Gil 'time and place,' but in Gil's it's essentially 'get the f*** over it.' Gil's not wrong, but running unchecked mods mid flight is dangerous AF, and Gil was being a twat to the guy who flew the ship THROUGH the Scourge and BUILT the ship.

I sided with Kallo. For one, it really doesn't seem wise to modify the ship mid-flight unless it's absolutely needed and nothing else can be done. And secondly, he seemed he would have a break down if I shut it down, while Gil would be just pissed.

Kallo. He knew the ship from the keel out and helped to build it. If Gil believed the mods were essential, he should have consulted with the person who knew the ship more than he and also officially notified the captain of his intentions. Gil may be a good engineer but he's not the captain. There're protocols he has to observe. By not doing so, he's being irresponsible, not respecting the chain of command and a hazard to the ship and crew, no matter his good intentions.

I work in naval ship repair and no what goes into performing "alts"....that knowledge made this arc painful.

Sided with Gil, for the same reasons you did sageoflife. Same here (IMHO you should exactly upgrade your ship while it is in active use (I mean soldiers tinker with their guns in the field, too (wrap paracord around the stock/grip for example if it's uncomfortable to use (or simply too small if the guy has large hands etc.) otherwise etc.))...as long as you don't break something that you can't fix/replace on the fly!)...what use is a ship that's being upgrade somewhere in a space-dock and might not meet the next set of challenges ahead? I'd rather have an engineer who thinks outside the box and can fix stuff on the fly ) greetings LAX ps: I get Kallo's feelings, but even he himself knows in the end that I am right (he gives Gill the original plans he typed out from fucking MEMORY (!) so that the man can do an even better job!)

I sided with Kallo for similar reasons to those mentioned by others. Modifying the ship is a good idea, especially since a lot apparently changed in the 600+ years it took to get to Andromeda, but doing it while in flight seems dangerous and foolish when it could just be done by stopping at one of the various destinations.
I hated the either/or choice though. I'd have killed for a "you both raise good points, work together instead of arguing" third option. Even though they end up doing that anyway, it seemed like forcing drama between the crew and not giving you an option to resolve it. It actually made me want the paragon/renegade system back, because Shepard was capable of solving disputes between crew rather than just siding with one over the other. Sure, have siding with one of them as options, but there should have been a third option.

Gill's argument made more sense and Kallo's argument seemed like it was based more on emotion and sentimentality which is odd for a salarian. You have to adapt to survive. That said it did feel a little jerky. Going to side with Kallo in my second playthrough to see how the reactions are different.

Gil because he's hot. That's how I tend to make my decision both in video games and in life.

I sided with Kallo. I felt bad doing it, because fuck me sideways, Gil is hot, but he was being a bit of a dick.

I somewhat agreed with Gil's point, but he was being such a dick about it I had to side with Kallo.
Even if they are improvements, those sort of changes should be discussed with the rest of the crew. Gil can't just do whatever he likes behind everyone's back and act like a twat when people try to question him about it.

Gil, when you move to another galaxy you dont know what will happen, your plans will never suffice, the only solution is to be smart and FLEXIBLE, that means being able to deal with change and improve things and Gil is doing that while Kallo isnt.
Kallo later admits to you that this is more emotional than logical, something about putting value on the creators of the ship. And i was never a person to hold things sacred or never question or change them.
