Now, I'll fully admit that I'm not at the end of the game yet, but as of right now I feel like your twin (Scott, in my case) is a giant missed opportunity for an amazing sibling relationship. I was really excited when I heard we'd be having a sibling in ME:A that you could talk to, but from what I've seen so far Scott's kind of your twin in name only. I don't at all feel like these two actually spent most of their childhoods growing up side by side. For example, the whole 'you lied to me' thing was over with in less then 5 minutes when I would have much preferred that the situation not even get close to being resolved right then and there.
I'd love it if my character would now be able to lean on her brother for support after he wakes up, or discuss the events of past missions with him, or even introduce him to my LI. I'd love it if he defied doctors orders and came with me on the Tempest for the last bit of the game because he wasn't about to let his sister go one more second of risking her life without him there to watch her back. I'd love it if we got the sense that our character could really be themselves around Scott and be able to drop the 'Pathfinder' mantle for a little while in a way they couldn't around the crew.
Overall, I was really looking forward to some good sibling feels and as of right now I'm feeling really short changed.

I've not seen the full extent of the sibling arc yet but as soon as I heard about it, as much as it excited me I kept thinking "How are they going to pull this off?" and I quickly thought to set my expectations low because if you thnk about it this sort of thing is just pretty hard to pull off.
One is the playable character who goes through a prescripted story where they are the protagonist in it and the other has a side-role and the two roles are interchangable depending on which character you play as. Here, I'd have loved to see some branching paths akin to Witcher 2's very exclusive content splits but I understand it's not the biggest priority and more of a novelty. The fact that male Ryders now have to aknowledge female Ryders's excistence is cool enough in itself. It's just that you'd have to really make a LOT of extra writing and scenes to make these two people truly individual when one is always in cryo sleep longer and the other is the protagonist. The best they managed to do is give Sara some "casual vs serious" responses when Scott gets "Emotional vs logical" sometimes and of course some unique auto dialogue.
It would've been cool if the non-playable twin role had been better involved in the critical path though.

I am holding out hope that you will have the option to play as the twin when the inevitable DLC comes out. You know, twin #1 was the Pathfinder but then twin #2 gets to have some adventure themselves.

Your twin is literally just a minor story asset used to dump information about what your family life was like back in the Milky Way. You couldn't even develop and define your relationship with them like you could in DA2. Mad disappointing lol. Hopefully now that they're done "resting" (that must be our sibling's favorite pass time because they are literally still resting during the epilogue) they'll play a more important role in the second game or DLC.

I would love to have the twin be a squadmate. Don't want to switch to giving them a whole DLC. No reason to when I can simply play them in the main game.

It would be interesting if they were playable in a DLC or the next protag of the sequel I would prefer them as a squadmate, I don't want to be forced to use one sibling for a whole dlc and/or game. If it an option to use them, it would be okay, but I still prefer them as a squadmate. I'd prefer them as a squadmate as well because then Bioware might flesh them out more personality wise. From what I've seen in my playthrough as a SisRyder Scott's got no discernable personality, let alone a strong one. In one scene, in particular, Scott's reaction was horribly wooden and bland and not at all appropriate for the scene: (HUGE story spoiler here!) His reaction to finding Ellen Ryder alive in cryo was basically 'mild confusion' and then immediately 'wow this is neat!' Like, excuse me, but you just found your mother that you watched die of a terminal illness basically alive and there's a possibility to bring her back illness free. I refuse to place blame with Tom Taylorson because he just did his job and gave the director what they were looking for. It's almost like Bioware was afraid to make him anything more than a placeholder because you can also play as him, even though in the context of a Sara playthrough he's just a regular character. Honestly, If I had to pick between Scott being a larger, more developed, well written and integral part of the game over one of the squadmates being in it at all I'd pick Scott.

They said it's anthology, but they were intentionally vague on reoccurring PC. Out of all backlash on the game, Ryders are usually out of it. Except Sara's face, but it's not like femShep didn't have a surgery in ME3.

Because that would mean you're forced to play character you may not want to play in one of the games. If they are squadmate, it opens potential to have them well written in addition to playing the twin you want in both games.

I agree that the sibling was way more of a minor character than I'd hoped. It was a dynamic I was really looking forward to but they were very under-used. I would love to see them as a squadmate in a future game or DLC - and I feel like it's kinda hinted at in the epilogue - "can you imagine having two Ryers on the ship?" or something to that effect. DA2 did it with Bethany/Carver so I don't see why they couldn't do it here. I'd hate to be forced to play as them though. I chose to play Sara because I like playing female protagonists, especially since not many games allow me to do so. I don't want to have to play Scott, whether it's in a future game, or in Andromeda just to have a save to import if I want to play as Sara later.

Sleeps the whole way through the game, shows up at the end, screams a bit and pulls some funny faces. I was hoping s/he'd be a companion as it'd add some unique banter and a character relationship we've never really had much of in bioware games.

The only reason I wouldn't expect Reyes to be a squadmate is because he's got major obligations on Kadara. Well, if you sided with him. If you didn't, he's not likely to want to be a squadmate.

Well, as he's leading from the shadow, he could easily delegate those obligations to someone else while tagging along with Ryder. Back on topic, I actually expected the twin to be a companion in this game, at least in later planets. Missed opportunity indeed Bioware.

Aye, I also felt it was a missed opportunity. After they put so much work into establishing both of the twins, I hoped the sibling would play much more of a part. That he didn't was a bit of a disappointment, especially since I liked the few scenes that were there and showed how great it could have been if there had been more!
I don't like the idea of being forced to play a whole game with "the other sibling". But I very much like the idea of them becoming a squadmate in future DLCs/games, or important NPCs for a story arc (think Reyes and Kadara). They could also go the W3 route and let you play certain parts of a mission as your sibling, when they don't become a part of the Pathfinder team.
That, I could find very fun and enjoyable!
