I AM the Combo King! *ahem*
So, I was working on a build that resembled the old school Sentinel before they turned it into more of a tank/shield draining class like they did in ME:A. That meant mixing up biotics and tech skills to decimate foes from a distance. Through happy circumstance, I found out that my build allows me to use all three types of combo detonators pretty much whenever I want. Need to strip shields? Tech combo. Punch through armor? Fire combo. Just render mass chaos? Biotic combo. Why do to I love combos so much? One word.
EXPLOSIONS! (Yes, we all love you Mr. Torgue.)
The build:
You'll need a mix of tech and biotics, so grabbing the passives is a must eventually and I even recommend taking some of the passives in Combat, for whichever weapons you want to you and to unlock some survivability and give yourself more carry weight.
Profile- Engineer, Adept, Sentinel or Explorer. Depending on what you want to boost, all are good, just make sure you invest heavier into the trees attached to your profile choice. Personally, I use explorer for the more all around option and for Biotic Blink which is awesome.
Skills:
Singularity- Your only Biotic skill. I chose this despite the longer cooldown, I get one off for every two of my other skills currently, because it has several advantages. Namely, its a large, damaging AoE that can be used to lock down enemies and draw them together to be blown up. It's also not completely useless against shielded or armored targets. It still deals some damage and more importantly, as long as the enemy is in the field, he can still be hit with a combo, allowing you to hit even big bosses for some damage. Either of your tech skills will cause a biotic explosion when they detonate this. If you want to play more of an engineer, you can substitute something like Invasion to drop enemy defenses or Assault Drone to prime combos with upgrade.
Incinerate- Your armor killer. Take Detonate to allow it to either prime or detonate combos, making it extremely versatile. Also has a really low cooldown. Comboing off Incinerate gives a Fire Combo.
Overload- Your other tech skill, Overload with Natural Shock also works as a combo primer or detonator. Comboing of Overload gives a Tech Combo.
So, with this set up, you can basically use Incinerate or Overload to prime or detonate. If you need to strip shields, use Overload > Incinerate. If you need to burn armor, reverse it.
With this build you can actually pull off double combos by starting with Singularity, using Overload for a Biotic Combo and finishing with Incinerate for a Tech Explosion. I give this order because I've had troubles getting Overload to detonate off of Incinerate after it procs a Biotic combo, but more testing is needed.
Upgrades on the abilities is up to you, but if you really want explody fun, go for exploding Singularity and use a bunch of augments to increase combo damage and radius. You could also take a bunch of Biotic cool down augments to drop Singularity's cooldown.
