I'm in disbelief. Excuse the random jumping of my reactions.
I've had the game since launch and can't get into it. I've maybe played a total of 2 hours, all while being distracted by the Internet on my second screen. I'm really disappointed. I'm happy a few people are liking it, but it's just so boring. Even the action, which most critics have enjoyed is dull.
I miss ME3's dodge mechanic. The verticality of MEA does nothing for me. It's just a bunch of jumping around, there's nothing fun about it. I'd rather have more linear levels and missions than these big play grounds with enemies appearing far away. It's not tense enough, there's no want for me to push forward. Just keep running to target to target.
And what's up with picking up loot? Why is this fun? Fuck loot. Christ. Mass Effect was never about "picking up loot." Sure in 1 you'd find random shit in lockers and you would auto recover items after fire fights (and it sucked), and having loot sit around and asking players to pick it up, slows down the game. Very few people liked the heavy inventory in Mass Effect, why bring it back?
Squad feels useless. Don't even care about them. You can't use their powers, then there is no point of them existing.
And then there is the locales. I enter one building, turn around, and renter the next building because they all look EXACTLY the same.
All the guns so far lack punch. I feel like I'm shooting paper clips.
The baddies are uninteresting. They're straight out of that contrite piece of work called Destiny. The Ket? The Remnant? BAD WRITERS. *hits nose with newspaper* VERY BAD. They're so uncharismatic and uninteresting that it's painful watching them stumble at you.
I don't know what to think about the Nomad. I don't know there's a mineral scanner and mining button on it. And I really hope I'm not driving around on planets looking for places to places to mine. Finding minerals in ME1 was not fun. Scanning planets in ME2 was not fun. Scanning planets in ME3 wasn't fun, but al least you got a bit of world building with it.
I'm sooo bored of open world games.
Bioware, you dun fukd it up. You could have made a more focused, non-open world game, and I guarantee you it would have been 100x better if it had the same budget of this travesty.

The only thing that i think is really a letdown but a big letdown is the squad..we cant command it like before and that isn t fun and does not help us to get into the characters. Its the biggest letdown. Still i prefer this over any cod or ghost recons. The nomad is not fun too..as i feared the game has lowered the age to whom is designed.more childish. My fears were correct,my feeling was right
In fact ..i have to accept some of the negative crticism about andromeda..so many years waiting..yea they could have done better

Very few people liked the heavy inventory in Mass Effect, why bring it back? Just a couple of points. They do have the dodge mechanic from ME3, it is called evade and on a separate key from Jump. It's just as important in MEA as it was in ME3. You can combine jumps with dodges as well. I do agree with the inventory management. You were picking up stuff in ME3 (mods weapons etc) but it never had to pop open a menu to pick it up and there was never a limit. I don't understand why some people like managing an inventory but apparently they do I do like the combat in MEA though, liking that makes the whole semi open world concept (which I usually hate including the witcher 3) actually work. I would still prefer a more focused game but I am enjoying MEA despite having very limited time to play it at the moment.

Loot yields ingredients for crafting more equipments/weapons which was what people wanted.. ME is an Action RPG after all.. as for story, remnant & kett actually gets interesting later on. I'd say give the game little more time, but it looks like your mind is already set.

You could have made a more focused, non-open world game, and I guarantee you it would have been 100x better if it had the same budget of this travesty. Why did you even buy the game then? It shouldn't have been a surprise to you that MEA is an open world, action role playing game, not a true shooter. All of the trial period reviews made it clear there would be scanning, crafting and exploration and not constant combat. Helpful tips, if you use evade instead of jump during combat it is very similar to the ME3 dodge. If you hit evade during combat while approaching cover you will still do a combat roll. You can also just leave loot laying around if you don't want it slowing you down, you don't have to pick it up. I'm sorry you don't like the game but you should have known what kind of a game you were getting before setting such unrealistic expectations for it.

I'm having a ton of fun. Doing my second playthrough now. Beat it on Normal now I'm on Insanity.
One bit of advice: Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions with such a huge game. Two hours is barely scratching the surface. The more you play, the more engaging the game gets.
That's a reason the game has such mixed reviews. People play a small part of it and think they now know enough to make an accurate summation of the game...they can't. It's like reading Genesis and thinking you know everything else that's going to happen in the Bible.

What above poster said!
I did my first play through after a whopping 60~ hours, and still doing little things to keep going.
I'm on my second play through and am very far from bored to begin with. Maybe it's just not the game for you :/ Most of us I assume have been big fans since 2007.
It is a mix of a lot of different big titles out there. I mentioned some in a different post, but I think it's fairly well done, minus bugs and little glitches. Game is still a great play regardless and cant wait for more.

It's like reading Genesis and thinking you know everything else that's going to happen in the Bible. I think after the ten hours trial, you know what to expect. BioWare fucked up if they need you to play longer than that to get to anything interesting happening. It's not like all of a sudden the dialogue quality will improve either. I quit after reading reviews upon completing the trial and learning that the Kett are it as far as main bad guys in the game. No political intrigue, nothing on par with ME1 story-wise.

ME1 had political intrigue? If there's one thing ME generally failed at, it was politics.

I have many issues with this game, some minor, some major. But coming on here and making pronouncements like the OPs after two hours is ridiculous, to put it mildly.

I'd disagree with that - after 3's ending, you'd think BioWare would have tried to hit the ground running with an amazing intro to pull you into Andromedas new world. Instead, you fart around for hours on end. I wouldn't blame anyone for quitting after two hours - not everyone has the time to invest a dozen hours into a game to see "if it gets better"

I liked the vanilla endings just felt they needed exactly what the EC did. Basing you Andromeda experience on whatever your feelings about ME 3 is pointless as well as giving up after 2 hours. No game except perhaps E.T can be properly reviewed after 2 hours.

This isn't a review. I'm not reviewing MEA, you nutty person. I'm reacting to it. I'm a fan of Mass Effect. That's why I bought it. I really hate that it's not grabbing me, but I don't see the core improving from the desert planet. I'm getting that same vibe XCX gave me. Too much loot, boring combat. I played for 20 hours, and the game never got any better.
Only thing MEA has going for it right now, is that its Mass Effect, and there are Asari and Turian and Krogan and Salarian.

What is so bad about the combat? Even with all the reviews bashing the game, they all agree the combat is one of the best things about the game. You actually liked the omnibutton in ME3? You don't like having mobility?

If you don't feel any motivation to carry on after 2 hours, fine, that's your choice. But to "pronounce" that the whole game must be shit because you didn't like the first 2 hours isn't a very well formed opinion.
