Is it wrong I'm a huge fan of this guy? I really expected him to be the guy I wanted to overthrow but compared to Addison, Tann is frigging Churchill. I mean, yes, he's an accountant but isn't that who you need in a survival situation? Dude also has my back. He may not be David Anderson but, hey, not everyone can be a super duper Washington figure. I'll wait out his Salarian lifespan to take over.

I liked Tann a lot as a character. Wouldn't want to go for drinks or brunch with the guy, but he's pretty fair (to Ryder at least... Krogan are another story). As for Addison--she's a callous bore in regards to Ryder Sr's death I actually agree with her 100% on the evils of nepotism? Tann is more balanced--he's wary of Ryder but way more professional and sensitive about the fact their father just died. Also he builds model ships. Which is kinda adorable.
I also may secretly ship him and Kesh.

Pathfinder Ryder Senior may have made a questionable decision passing it down to their child but the fact is, he died less than an hour ago to Sarah/Scott when someone is giving them smack about it. She's also my primary pick for a Cerberus agent onboard.
Tann, by contrast, says, "Listen, you may or may not be a gigantic screw up but I'm willing to trust Ryder's judgement and make a gamble."
That's a pretty decent attitude to take, especially since you just arrived with the life-saving starship that allows them to turn the power back on.
I even think Tann's racism isn't that bad of a trait since Drack pretty much talks nothing but smack about humans and Salarians in particular. It is a bit of irony, though, that Kesh is one of the three people who run the Initiative. What more did the Krogan want?

He can adopt my Ryder if he likes. (Kesh mentioned that I think? Or was it just because I found myself following along with him? He sweet-talked his way into my Ryder's good graces.)

I can't help but like him despite all his flaws like his ego, his suckup nature, sarcasm and his distaste towards Krogans. But he does his job to the best of his ability and his heart is in the right place. There's also the fact that while Addison chews you out Tann will offer his sympathies and give you the Tempest and it's crew.
He's not 100% good or bad and I like that about him. That and early on he has a nice comeback against you.
Also If You thank him for his permission in a specific conversation, he says something really corny and is embarrassed by it almost immediately.

He's flawed, but he really hasn't done anything bad.
All the super bad stuff links back to Addison -- including trying to cover up shady decisions that got colonists killed.

You can like whoever you want to like. There's nothing wrong with that.
For me however he is the only member of the leadership I do not like. His choices resulted in the situation going from bad to worse and he isn't even sorry for it, seeing it as everyone's fault but his.

His choices resulted in the situation going from bad to worse and he isn't even sorry for it, seeing it as everyone's fault but his. Eh, he was handling the situation as best he could. A lot of it is on Addison's assistant. Yeah, Tann said no to the Krogan having an increased voice but the Initiative isn't the Citadel Council. It's a corporate science project. Also, he never agreed to that deal.

I think that Tann, Addison, and Kesh are all interesting characters with reasonable flaws that do a decent job of portraying slightly underprepared individuals caught up in leadership roles in a crisis. Naturally, that means that at least one of them is going to be the "benefactor", and the other two are probably going to be killed or sidelined by something abominably stupid, because if there's a theme in BioWare games, it's that politicians are all incompetent, that they have no good reason for doing anything, that they are all cartoonishly evil and will stab you in the back without provocation or reason, and that the soldiers are the only honest, hardworking, and righteous individuals in any leadership structure.

Tann said no but Spender lied about the deal with the Krogan in the first place.
So they left.

I liked Tann, imo he's one of those leaders who take charge when things go haywire yet all the people who were too afraid to take over complain about how he runs the show. If Kesh believed she could have done better then why wait for a number eight to take charge, why didn't she do it? So far the only reason I'm given to not like Tann is that everyone dislikes him and that's not good enough for me. The AI isn't a popularity contest.

"Exactly what I would have said. In fact I think I did"
I reloaded and did something cooler, which in turn prompted another good response, but this was a pretty good line

A lot of them fit that description, but there are some notable exceptions. Turian council member comes around after he goes behind the council to aid you in the fight against the Reapers in ME3. Bann Teagan enlists your aide in helping defend Redcliffe and saving the arl's family instead of immediately trying to kill you for being a grey warden (or just turning you in after you've outlived your usefulness) Arl Aemon totally sides with you and helps you eliminate Loghain and clear up the name of the grey wardens. Loghain's daughter Anora, despite being hard to trust, clearly has the well being of her kingdom in mind. Edit: Holy shit this is from more than a week ago...Sorry OP, not stalking you...just not paying attention to necro-threads...

What exactly is Tann's accent meant to be? Or is it a speech impediment? I like his voice, but I always find myself tilting my head whenever I speak to him.

I like Tann so far too. I haven't finished the game, only through Eos, Voeld and part of Havarl. I think he's interesting and doing a decent job in such an awful situation. I highly doubt he ever expected to be in such a situation. He's also been pretty supportive toward me.. I understand that's likely because he more than certainly only wants to be in my good graces because at this point I'm the only pathfinder for the Initiative and I carry significant clout. I've been polite to him and am doing nothing to antagonize him. It doesn't serve me or the Initiative at all to do that. I don't know where his story is going for the rest of the game, but I hope he grows and I can help mold him and myself into leaders.

I found Tann to be amusing in that irritating boss kind of way in the game, but reading Nexus Uprising made me actually like him as a character. He ended up being right about a lot of things, but because he irritated people no one wanted to listen to him, so I actually felt for him in there.

Hmm, I don't like him but I don't hate him either. But he was so nice sometimes that it's suspicious. I don't trust Salarians in power too much. I definitely don't like Addison and I love Kesh.

Tann's racism led to the loss of the krogan who were the ONLY PEOPLE who knew how to repair the Nexus. This was the case because they actually built the Nexus in the first place. That's about as stupid as it gets in terms of leadership decisions. Things that are fortunate is that Ryder can (if desired) mend fences with both the krogan and other exiles.

Within the story, he isn't a character I like, but he is a character I appreciate. He feels pretty well balanced as far as characters in a political leadership role go in a BioWare game. He could have very well been a complete dick and leave the new Pathfinder high and dry (which is probably what Addison would have done if she was in his position), but he didn't.

He shoves his responsibilities into Ryder's lap a bit too often for my tastes.
The murderer's fate he lets Ryder decide, so he can dodge potential outfall.
Same with the protesters. Hey Ryder, you go deal with them so you can catch the punches. Even though it's my job, not yours.
He's a weasel.

Well no Spender lying & offering them a position that hadn't been agreed with any of the leadership caused the split. He certainly holds negative views of the krogan but they are no different to the negative views of the salarians held by the krogan.
