Console key.

Most satisfying:  Pry it off your keyboard.  Works on most (meaning you can put it back later) but will break the key on the rest.

Most accomodating:  Bind that first power to a secondary button like Q or put the "1" on a mouse button.

Most skillful: Go into the MEA save file and assign the console to a different key.  Somebody posted instructions either here or on Reddit.

Loool, happened to me yesterday - and I didn't notice I hit console. Was completely confused why my keyboard doesn't react. Then I remembered the battery in my wireless keyboard was about to run out and I thought "son of a bitch, this is the moment you decide to fold? In the middle of a wave?" So I proceeded to rush to the kitchen, took out a new pack of batteries, changed the batteries in the keyboard....aaaand nothing.

Only then I noticed the narrow grey line at the top of my screen ))))

I downloaded a program that basicly modifies your registry to disable it, but it didn't work some how my console managed to come up and then I couldn't close it cuz the key was disabled.

the best way is to bend a couple of paper clips put them under diagonally opposing corners and lift the key off the keyboard (if you don't have a key puller) in an emergency you can still actuate the key but your not going to hit it accidentally

modifying the file just moves it somewhere else or removes it leaving you totally fubar'd should it open in the future due to some other bug.....

also if they decide to add in the ability to teleport yourself out of the glitch spot (like they did in me3 to fix several game breaking glitch's one of which was on the ship)

but yeah its more a problem that the keyboard designs have changed the tilde key never used to be there it was the alt button for the hash key, and now its hard mapped to the wrong key on the keyboard, hell mine isn't even the tilde its the `¬¦ key .....

well sure but my keyboard cost me more than £100 so unlike the £1.00 bargain backup I keep in the cupboard there's no way I'm risking damaging it

which might be why I used the key puller to remove that key to prevent that problem arising when yet another inadvertent depression caused me to yet again die like a scrub and be unable to use gels.......

I'm sure you could easily remap the key with Autohotkey.
