I know it was getting late...and I was kinda tired when I finished the game but...
I was just doing a postgame sweep of the ship speaking to everyone...
And Liam is pissed and wants to map the scourge because it was deployed as a weapon.
Seriously I have no recollection of that being mentioned. Did I zone out or was it mentioned in the final fight in all the blathering from the Archon...did I miss a dialogue tree?

The Scourge is mentioned to be deployed as a weapon against the ones who created the Angara (Forgot the name) but it still unknown if It is something natural or artificial created by another race against them.
The scorge clearly attack remmant places and remnant things, Ryder use the remnant ships flying them near the scourge,that way The scourge follow the ships and trap the kett ships.

The scourge is the fallout of massive weapon used against the Jardaaan and the scourge is attracted to their tech like iron fillings to a magnet.
