So as we all know there is quite the controversy about many of the animations in Mass Effect Andromeda. This all came about during EA's Early Access where the public was witness to some horrible animations (still) present in the game. While I could provide said animations, that is not the point of this thread. Shortly following this information, intrepid internet investigators (thugs) searched "Mass Effect Andromeda Lead Animator" into their ever trusty search engines to find "Allie Rose Marie" as evidenced by the most trustworthy site, Kotaku:
www.kotaku.com.au/2017/03/scumbags-harass-woman-for-working-on-mass-effect-andromedas-animations/
This "Allie Rose Marie" claimed on her twitter that she was the "Lead Animator" for Mass Effect Andromeda. However, a look at the games credits do not show the name "Allie Rose Marie". In fact, that name is not even listed at all in the credits. She is not listed under Character Artists, not under Cinematic Animators, not under Concept Artists, not in Environment Artists, not in In-Game Animators, not in Technical Animators, UI Artists, Visual Effect Artists, not in either of the External Art categories, and she doesn't even come in at Additional Artists.
If that wasn't enough, she doesn't even show up as one of the Frostbite Team's Animators either!
Arron Flynn released this statement (in the Kotaku link) about how she was a "former EA employee":
So how was this person with no link to MEA linked to it? By her own Twitter information, where she specifically stated she was the "Lead Animator" for MEA! Not only that, but (at the time) she was one of the top searches that came up when one typed in "Lead Animator for Mass Effect Andromeda". Naturally with humanity being what it is, people started attacking her. Within the hour, sites like Kotaku started writing articles (like the one above) "defending" this woman by insulting her attackers. Of course, when this discussion came to this forum, it was vigorously shot down, with people white knighting this "Allie Rose Marie". Which leaves me to my point.
It is quite clear that BioWare (and EA) knew about the poor state of Andromeda's animations. Furthermore, they knew that if they could somehow de-legitimize their critics, they would be able to escape the controversy. If they could lump in the legitimate critics with those that attacked "Allie Rose Marie", they would easily be able to accomplish that narrative. However, they did not (perhaps they did) expect the significant backlash that would come from one of their "core" supporters. The outrage over the "poor state" of the Gay Male romances has taken center stage in the criticism of Andromeda, completely overshadowing the poor animations.
Perhaps BioWare will actually fix the animations at a later date like they claim, or perhaps they'll leave them as they are while the "fix" the romances instead. What would they get more "brownie points" for?
