-Be wary of lag! All my crashes were during lag-fests. I conclude that crashes are caused by lag. (Was the same in DAIMP.) -Be wary of short mission search time, sending you to lobbies where someone has a check mark already = game in progress. My worst LAD-fests were always like this. I conclude that when a game is already in progress, there is no ping/connectivity testing prior to sending you to that lobby! -Based on previous; wait in lobby until you have 4 players. -Use friend request and invite actively (collecting friends you have good connection with....)

Yes, I agree lag is behing most of the crashes. Yesterday I played 6 games in a row without any problems then I was invited by a friend to join a very laggy match: the game crashed 4 times in a very short period of time, during the same match...

If someone is already ready when you join the lobby, it means they were ready before you joined, lol. If EVERYONE is ready when you join - that's a game in progress. Sometimes 1-2 players start the match without waiting for others, so when others (you) join the lobby, they see that 2 people are ready and 1 isn't. In that situation it's a game in progress, but there's no way to tell which one is which.

I crash and the OP's experiences don't correlate with mine at all.
I have 4GB RAM and 4GB VRAM. I know for a fact that I'm running up against both of my RAM limits playing MEA with textures on High, because I get a recurring error message accompanying some crashes saying "out of memory". I will usually crash before finishing a match if I have any extraneous, RAM-hungry programs open while playing MEA:MP. Those programs being browsers mostly, especially with hardware acceleration(!), but I will close Steam too for good measure. I've played and hosted with Skype open and in use. Programs opening automatically while I've been in-game have been the direct causes of crashes. These crashes can be avoided, in theory, by relieving my PC's RAM and VRAM burdens, so further turning down texture quality and closing inessential programs.
Other times my audio goes on the fritz. Sometimes the audio just turns off in-game, and sometimes I crash and my PC's audio becomes staticky distortion with constant white noise and garbled output. Relaunching MEA can correct the former, but the latter should require a restart. I noticed in Event Viewer that AudioDG.exe, a Windows process, failed the last time my PC audio failed. Also, sometimes some in-game sound effect groups just stop working, like announcer messages and character dialogue and callouts (e.g., the never right "out of ammo" callouts), while the other sound effect groups seem intact. I've actually had that issue persist across game instances such that I needed to restart my PC. I don't think there's a fix for this. Maybe I could try onboard audio or default Windows audio drivers for my Creative Titanium X-Fi (non-HD), but I'm not going to do that. Probably need to wait for a patch from BioWare.

- Play Solo lol, that is some quality MP I tried a few solos last night and still crashed. 2 hours of play got me 0 experience and 0 credits as not a single game was completed without a crash, disconnect or freeze.
