Unfortunatelty, I'm going to start this thread with a negative post, which shouldn't be how these threads start. For me, the Archon is the weakest part of the Andromeda game and a large part why the game wasn't better. ME1 and ME2 really thrived thanks to Harbinger, the Illusive Man, Sovereign, and Saren. The Archon, by contrast, really is lacking in personality and may be the blandest villain in Bioware's annals.
Corypheus, for all of his faults, at least had the Chris Avellone-esque existentialism thing going, "I am a religious person terrified of existing in a Godless world so I will become God." I mean, he was a complete dick about it even to his own followers but at least that's an ethos?
The Archon?
Honestly, I can't really gather what his motivation is beyond, "be awful to the locals."
I loved the idea the Kett had a SENATE and actually were a fully organized society with an ideology, trade, and bureaucracy but we never got to see any of that. Instead, he seemed like he stepped out from Halo with a desire to activate the Holy Rings and destroy the galaxy.
Only without the culture of the Covenant.
What about you guys?

I like the title of this thread because that's what I thought when I first saw the Archon. I haven't met him in the game yet so I can't comment on what he is like as a villain.

As villain for me is bad too but as a character he is "cute" isn't He? haha seems like the type that you tap his head so he get angry and start insulting you haha but yeah He seems like a generic villain. Maybe in the next games/DLC we face better enemies.

He looks a bit like a monkey in my eyes. One of those little ones, like the emperor one or the capuchin one. Monkey with a silly head-dress.
Scene wise I found him the most enjoyable villain in the series. Since he does stuff, instead of just trash talking you. But his motivation was lacking. Which is a pity. Still I like him.

The Archon was like an evil little Koala Bear. Hard to take him seriously. Here's hoping the Primus will make a better villain in future dlc/games

From what I gathered of the Archon his motivation was to harness remnant technology to give the Kett greater leverage when attempting to Exalt another species. He planned to force a species to accept exaltation or face extinction at the hands of remnant terraformers. Within the purview of his character that is a reasonable motivation and not excessively ambitious or ludicrous.
Apparently the overarching goal was to further expand the Kett throughout the Heleus cluster as from what was described in game the Kett have a larger power structure that we have yet to see that wants to finish up in the Heleus cluster and move on.
I liked him as both a villain and as a character, but he wasn't particularly inspiring overall. I'm sure the Kett have more interesting characters in store for the future.

Pretty sure it is supposed to look like a Halo. You know Chris Schlerf wrote this game, the guy that wrote Halo 4! subtlety!

Pretty sure it is supposed to look like a Halo. You know Chris Schlerf wrote this game, the guy that wrote Halo 4! subtlety! I see no Halo references. I mean, yes, the Archon is a religious cult leader in charge of an army of fanatics seeking out an alien superstructure that will allow him to destroy all of the planets of the galaxy. But there's no similarities.

A Dunkin's or Krispy Kreme? <- This is important. In all seriousness, yeah, the Archon was one of the really weak elements in this game. His final battle lines were painful to listen to. I remember hearing them say he would have some depth and you'd feel empathy for the guy (or they wanted you to).... I couldn't find anything to empathize with in him. He felt like a filler for bad-guy. I did enjoy the scene were we first see him as he watches Alec and tries to emulate him in order to use the Remnant tech; that was pretty cool.

If you do the mission about learning about him, the Archon is betraying his higher-ups and is greedy and obsessed with Meridian and you can even choose to ally with the lead lady Kett Primus and eliminate him, or turn her down and kill him. Either way I can't tell if she's happy or not in that end scene.

He was trying to master Meridian not only to defeat his enemies, but to try and learn the jardaan life-creating process, to create his own flawless kett based off his DNA, and take over the empire (kinda like julius caesar). That's why he says Meridian has much more potential that you know about.

Either way I can't tell if she's happy or not in that end scene. The Archon has some parallels with Carausius, a Roman Governor in the 3rd Century who rebelled and declared himself "Emperor of Britain" for several years before he was eventually assassinated and his territory fell back under the control of the Empire.

The Archon isn't a good villain, but in a strange way, it kinda works for Andromeda. I've always thought that good heroes deserve better villains. So it stands to reason that baby hero Ryder gets baby-faced villain XD

Well I'll agree that he looks ridiculous.
I think his actor's voice work is some of the strongest in the game, which isn't saying a whole lot, granted. I like the audio files you get in his ship of him reviewing reports on the various Milky Way races and what traits would be best incorporated into the kett; his observations and the detached nature of it, the lack of hostility, the touch of admiration struck me. It really gave me the impression of someone who believes they're doing good work; that they're helping their own people as well as the people they convert, and what they're doing is without malice. That's something I never got from the Reapers. There was always an element of sadism from Sovereign and Harbinger that just didn't jive with what we found their ultimate goal to be.
That being said I would have liked a more clear explanation as to what the Archon wanted the Remtech for; his stated goal is to use the terraforming network as a gun to hold to the heads of everyone in Helius to accept exaltation or die, but that does seem rather a rather mundane use for one of the most impressive pieces of technology in the series thus far, and has a certain lack of ambition behind it that left me wondering if there was more to it, but that never got explored.
That, plus the Archon's unique if thoroughly unintimidating design, left me feeling that he was one of the weaker villains in Bioware's staple. But he's clearly intended as a starter villain.
