Always thought that was kinda dumb. A 50 cal to the face will make just as much damage hip shot as it will scoped. Just sayin. Guess its in the script. I agree. Hip firing should be a penalty to accuracy, not damage.

And thanks to this I'm dealing half the damage off host, be it headshot or bodyshot and there was no such problem back in ME3MP.
Biower never ceases to amaze me.

The only things with scopes that I have are SRs, unless I add a scope to them. Which, sure, it's possible that there's a bug where adding a scope adds the SR hipfire penalty. But I'm relatively confident after playing today that there's no hipfire penalty on anything other than SRs. I never put the scopes on other weapons, I may give that a try out of curiosity the next time I play, that would be a hilariously bad bug if that were the case. well I put scope on most of the ar's because I only have that and ar stock mods and I theres certainly a difference in number of shots required for a kill, I can take out the anointed with a single clip when using the scope but it needs 2 to drop it when hip firing and 3 if i'm in cover and use blind fire. also noticed that regardless of the weapon if you rapidly tap the fire button and don't do more than a couple of shots it seems to do more damage per shot Okay, tried testing again, this time with a scoped Mattock and a scoped Phalanx, again on a Bronze Sharpshooter. Saw no evidence of a difference in damage at all. Still 7 shots to drop the shield with the Phalanx, aimed or hipfired. 9 shots to drop the shield with the Mattock, aimed or hipfired.

Hip firing should be a penalty to accuracy, not damage. because in reality that's what it is. a 50 cal does x dmg, a plasma bolt does x dmg, but a hip shot is not as accurate as a scoped shot.

yeah the tips thing that pops up during loading screens, it tells you weapons do more damage when aiming, and you know mouse button two is aiming .... Okay, I think I can debunk this, it definitely doesn't apply to pistols. I just did my first Solo Bronze to check with a Phalanx III (sadly, my strongest semi-auto non-SR weapon), and I could tell no difference in damage between hipfire and aiming. I left a Sharpshooter alive on the second wave so its shields could regen, and tested multiple times how many shots it took to drop the shields. 7 shots, for both hipfire and aimed, and it looked like the same amount of shield left on the final shot both ways. Wouldn't be the first time that a tooltip or loading screen tip was just flat wrong in a Mass Effect game.Shoot a phantom's sword to remove its melee capabilities.

Other weapons (than just snipers) get hip fire reduction?
Nice trolling.

Other weapons (than just snipers) get hip fire reduction? Nice trolling. No way, it was never like that in ME3 code, and since they almost copy pasted it I would never believe they would make this for all guns, it would be also dumb. But SR DR is standard, as always. Just quick scope it.
