specializations, we know them, we love them. how about making a thread where we can discuss ouר thoughts and ideas about them? good idea blaze!
why, thank you
so i'll start,
personally i think inquisition have the right idea about one spec only, the spec should be a unique thing that helps define those chars, i'm in favor of getting them via story, and actually as part of the main story would be great, just no crafting and gathering nonsense, we get to the part we can learn a spec, we do the mission that helps us learn it and move on!
two points i would like to make:
1) more reaction to the spec from NPC, not just extra dialogue with comps but people actually responding differently to you based on the spec, if you are a blood mage, templar, etc... similarly to people acting differently to you based on your race.
2) companions specs: in DA2 each comp had their own unique spec, some had similarity to exsisting specs, but non the less they were still unique overall to the comp which i think is great that companions don't end up with a spec your char might have.
3) focus: focus moves were a nice addition, however in inquisition it felt the focus move was more fitting to the companion who also have that spec other then the spec itself, like the archery focus thingie for the artificier, which clearly related to varric and not the actual spec.
4) number of specs: 3 is waaay to little options, let's go for 5 more is also good but i'm not greedy, 5 is a goo number *nods*
my ideas for specs:
mage:
warrior:
rogues:

my ideas for specs:
mage:
- knight enchanter - who doesn't like melee mage? more fitting focus this time though.
- spirit healer - there's no healing in the combat in inquisition and i think it should keep like that, but this spec could work as a supporting role with moves that help the team, restore mana/stamina, etc... with only the focus move actually doing healing (basicly the focus move we got for knight enchanter)
- battlemage - being at the heart of combat along with the warriors instead of shooting spells from afar but not actually a melee spec, with vast control of the elements see the fear in the enemies eyes as your magic tear them to shreds! *laughs maniacly*
- blood mage - no explanation needed. the forbidden school of magic, the ability to control people and POWEH!
- force/rift mage - *heavy mechanical breathing* "the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force"
warrior:
- magekiller - mercenaries who specialize in killing mages (example: marius), magic gives an unfair advantage, that's why you need a pro! (and yeah mages foes in inquisition were mostly nerfed, but we hoping they fix that ).
- berserker - mayhem! keel! ARRRRGE!
- reaver - i have one word for you "dragon rage" that is all.
- champion - battles are not won single handedly, even for the mightiest of warriors, battles are won by allies and allies need a commander to inspire them and keep them alive.
- spirit warrior - while not mages and a rare case, some warriors gain some amount of magical abilities from spirits in exchange for glimpse of the physical world, in other cases it can be the result an experiment made by a mage (example: fenris).
rogues:
- ranger - i like the idea of being able to summon an animal to fight alongside you who is not a bloody dog
- duelist - i like duels.
- assassin - do i really need to explain?
- tempest - coat yourself in chemical shit (not literal shit, fine let's use "chemical staff" to avoid confusion) to gain benefits and advantage over your foes, that'll show them!
- bard - spies, skilled performers and master manipulators, they can inspire their allies and distract their enemies through tails and songs. i for one was disapointed we didn't get to play a bard in inquisition, we were after all in orlais.
