The folks at Logitech have teased a Battlefield 1 specific keyboard, developed in cooperation with EA/DICE of all companies, in time for the launch date.

I find it odd, that EA would do this, since their games are console first and keyboard maybe. With this in mind, It's probably all a marketing push from both
companies flogging a "standard" / "backlit" keyboard with the Battlefield 1 name/logo and not really a Game Keyboard per se. Nevertheless, it got me thinking
that we may see a similar Logitech ME:A Game Keyboard, if the first one is a success.

So, how many of you would buy a Logitech + EA/DICE keyboard with a Mass Effect Andromeda name on it? And do you think it's an actual custom made
Battlefield 1 Game Keyboard?

First, I'd be inclined to believe the keyboard is probably a keyboard with some Battlefield logos tacked on.

With regard to an MEA "custom" keyboard/mouse I'd consider it but only if the game ends up exceptional and has a good design for K+M (unlike DAI's port.) I have to really love a game before buying the extra fluff. That extends to weapon/armor DLC packs, which normally I do not waste money on but did for ME3 because despite the ending I thought the game was awesome.

I use a 12 button Razer mouse which I find indispensable when playing the ME and DA games. Those two franchises are the sole reason I bough it.

As to the keyboard, I currently use a Logitech keyboard with fancy buttons like finance, My Sites, Community, Favorites, e-mail, multi=media buttons... etc..... which I never
bothered to customize once I got it.

A custom gaming keyboard, with "gaming features" is something I would use and so I'm interested.... to a dollar price point.

Meh. This just reminds me of Bli$$ard. They'll take your cash, however they can get it. Badly written and esited books, check. Keyboards and mice? Check.

I dunno, this entire thing stinks too much like that. All of which I would be fine with. As long as they keep telling the entire stories in game. As soon as that stops, no.

i really like pathfinder's setting but i REALLY don't like how focused on min/maxing the rules are. it's designed from the ground up by and for min/maxer's and autists. the rest of us normies have to play on crayon eater difficulty just to hit a target.

Logitech do this with a lot of games, DAI included so I would expect the same with MEA. Probably a decent but overpriced mechanical gaming keyboard if you are in need of one.

I'll stick to my sturdy metal mechanical keyboard (red switches).

On a related note, I wish the Mass Effect merchandise incorporated more design elements from the games other than the N7 logo. Mass Effect is more than just ....N7.

I guess it's the only easily-identifiable thing you can slap on stuff, though. I mean, do the turians have a symbol everyone recognizes? Otherwise it'd have to be a silhouette of a turian... or a silhouette of a salarian. Yeah.

As much as I like my DA:I mouse that I won on Dragons and Donuts, I don't buy game branded hardware.

Also, I'm one of those infidels who play on pc but think keyboard/mouse makes a horrible control scheme for third person games.

I couldn't care in the slightest...I just hope ME:A finally has controller support on the PC! I want to play ME:A on release day, but if it doesn't ship with controller support, I'm not picking it up until someone mods it in.

It's that much of a game-breaker for me. I simply cannot stand playing FPS games with a m/k setup, despite it being more competitive.

Back on topic, I have never bought game-branded hardware. IMO, it doesn't add value and oftentimes the value proposition is less because they can get away with it.

I always found these "custom" peripherals (or anything really) to be a kind of a shakedown. Like, it's basically a Razer/Logi/whatever peripheral with different paint on it, and BAM! Here, pay another hundred bucks. Whaaaaat? lol.

Same happens with cases. Custom Razer case whatever that is the same thing just painted in black with the Razer logo and then they expect me to pay a couple hundreds more just because some trendy company has its logo on it.

If it's like a giveaway then yeah, cool stuff. Otherwise no thank you.

To be ever worth the money, it would need to be one of those custom jobs with the special faceplates that tell you what's where. Even one of those competitive keyboards that has maybe half the normal keys would be welcome over a generic light-up keyboard.

I'll stick with my Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, thanks. It has only one flaw, WIN keys can be disabled, but cannot be remapped. Which is a waste of perfectly reachable key.
For mouse, it'll be either SteelSeries Diablo III. mouse (which is totally great), or, in case of more complex control scheme, SteelSerie WoW Cataclysm mouse, which is the best multi-button mouse ever.
Oh, and in case of some multiplayer shenanigans, there's Creative WoW headset, which is the only headset that I can use for longer periods of time without feeling like head 'splosion.

I got a USB console controller for my PC. Frankly, I'm terrible at the controls. Mouse navigation and thumb weapon firing is so much easier for me.

No, because there isn't anything wrong with the keyboard that I have now, Corsair Vengeance K70. I picked it up almost 3 years ago and is still working fine.

It's just a normal keyboard with some chintzy paint or vinyl on it. It's not specifically designed with the game in mind.

And the answer is no. I'm not paying a premium for an item that looks different than a functionally identical, cheaper version.

As long as we're on gaming peripherals, I'm looking for a good gaming mouse. The one that I've got now, the springs gave out on it about 8-12 months after I got it.

The only thing is, I'm not a big MMO player. I had a Razer Naga (I think), and I'm thinking about going back to it.

EDIT : Whoops. Razer Abyssus. Thing was freakin' awesome.

I prefer my mouse relatively simple, but with a decent selection of buttons. I'm also a Logitech fan for life after a they did some truly excellent customer service for me 10+ years ago.

So since they're not making the mx518 anymore, I'd be using a G700s even if BioWare hadn't given me one.
