It's really weird, I don't know why it sometimes does that...

I'm from EU - on fiber, and I would suppose that my host should be lag free to anyone connecting, at least from this part of the world.

The host lobby selection seems to be completely random. Sometimes, when enough people leave the lobby it will eventually be "my turn" to host.

Now, there are some hosts in NA I connected trough Discord that were quite laggy, but others had very little lag. Usually my ping to furthest NA servers would be 150-200, which is still playable in most online games.

Now, what I'm wondering is what the hell is going on with some of the extreme, absolutely ridiculous - completely unplayable lag that I sometimes get connecting to random lobbies. If there is a "nearest best match" system in the works, does it really prioritize EU hosts for me? Or is it connecting me to NA/AU? And how does it work if I connect to friend that is NA host and other random people join? Or are there really people on 56k modems and 2G wireless playing this?

I just don't know why they didn't put a ping meter in the lobby, it would solve so many problems...

I'm glad I got one measured response. Yes I agree, there are too many lobbies with players inside my region that are unplayably laggy.

Let's see, that kid is: frugal (that's wise) brave (I won't even try and watch a video with that baud) and has perseverance, playing from the third world and all.

Yes, in Africa (Germany) we have 2 MBit connections. Hosting is fine on my shitfibre btw. Its slow but enough for MEA and I get a 30 ms ping within Germany.

Do you know the feel when you can only play BF1 with a 200 ping because you only match half the internet speed minimum requirement?

I'm convinced that 99% of the lag people encounter is not host based, but issues with the Bioware Network we have to connect through to other people. It's stupid that we have to connect to Bioware's Network, but they could make it dedicated servers for MP.
