The outpost concept is really cool in Mass Effect Andromeda. I like that you can basically establish a base/home on various planets and you can interact with people or do all your research/developing.
The main thing they really lack is post establishment quests. Sure we get a repeat "super boss" quest, but I would actually like more in depth story quests to engage and possibly as random encounters.
I'm not talking about the fallout 4 "help defend this settlement!" Since we have already have multiplayer. I'm thinking more on the line of bounties similar to Red Dead Redemption or final fantasy XV/ monster hunter. They can reuse areas visited like vaults or the remnant ship or random raider outposts.
Other quests could be chasing a shuttle back to a mini boss' camp in the Nomad then infiltrating and assasinating a target, defending settlers and holding the line so their shuttle can escape, hunting new monster varieties (something other than fiends), following tracks/a trail, etc. all using existing gameplay mechanics. This could also be where we get more super boss quests or possible special/unique armor sets.
And have each quest reward the player. One of the Areas of improvement for smaller side quests is the real lack of closure and reward for completing them. That's the biggest difference between the MEA side missions and the Witcher 3 side missions. Witcher 3 side missions had a satisfying if sometimes unexpected ending to them

side quests? there's enough of them already. Yet we have nothing to do with the outposts after you establish them. No upgrade system to them using all our resources. I would be ok with even just a few detailed story side quests like the first human born side quest that we got And I'm just talking about in a small dlc/update. I also want a full in expansion with a new world to explore and a new story with the 5th ark

You know one without glitches because without glitches it's an OK game?

We won't get another full game for several years but we are getting dlc to add to this game. That being said, I would want want dlc to be a full expansion with a new story/ mechanics, and another to add/fill in the existing open world more

I think it was a mistake making all other outposts after Prodromos optional.

I agree. After making Prodromos viable and helping it out, we had a number of quests to either help the civilians or protect it from future threats. I felt invested in Prodromos because we actually get to help them out and sort a number of problems. All the other outposts are just blah.
All the outposts could have had a special quest chain. On Voeld, it could have been strengthening the relationship between the outpost and the resistance. Kadara, trying to get on equal ground with Sloane or Vidal and to lower the corruption/piracy on the planet. On Elaaden, maybe help avoid another war with the Krogan, or another series of "trials" to bring the outpost and krogan colony closer together (could have been hilarious, like that one quest were we fight the 3 fiends). Just feel like this was a missed opportunity.
Hell, I thought we were going to be able to choose the focus of each outpost! And that said focus would help us out in the long run! (more research points, or weapon mods and the like). Was really looking forward to this part as well. Was planning on making the focus of Voeld be more military to help the resistance fight the Kett... But nope, nothing. Felt a huge disconnect here in the game for me.

Maybe this is what the DLCs will do: flesh out the outposts and give each outpost a specific main quest.

Establishing the first outpost on Eos was the highlight of the game
