You could set the second protagonists on auto-responses (even at release), there was like 5 different "personality" to pick from (I always picked loyal, so they always agreed with me and didn't decide to break the party). That's the thing; I don't want to pick the companion's (2nd protag) personality. I want to learn about their personalities, their quirks, what makes them tick. I want to be surprised. To me, DOS is a total failure in the companion department. That's why I never finished it. There are four NPC companions in the original game as well, and you can take two of them with you: Madora, a retired Source Hunter, Jahan, a very VERY old wizard, Bairdottr, a ranger with zero social skills, and Wolgraff, a mute rogue.

The game has 4 companions that can join you, Iakus listed them (technically, EE has 4, the original version had only 2). Jahan shows up in D:OS2 by the way.

Iakus, azarhal, I was bumped by the two protag monologuing plus reading dialogues, I lost interest fast. I don't think I'll even try playing it again. Back then, I did catch some game play but not long enough. I jumped at it because it's RPG. After DAI, I wanted something RPG to play. DOS II, I watched for several hours before I made up my mind. That's what I do nowadays; watch gameplay for at least 8-10 hours total to have a better grasp on a game.

When something is called a doomsday device, it's probably a bad idea to turn the valve attached to it, right? I mean, what idiot does that just to see what happens, even if you can easily imagine what will happen. But then again, it could affect so many quests, they wouldn't let that happen, would they... oops

So I want to pick up the adventure again, the game crashes a few times. I verified the files and it tells me four are missing. Weird. So I let it download. So I did other stuff, came back. Download paused. I tried to get it going a few times. At one time, my E directory disappeared and the games in that directory all disappeared for Steam. I restarted PC. For some reason, the download keeps pausing. I have no idea why.
P.S. Got it back on track after some head banging.

After 110 hours I am finally done, but I must say, the ending was a bit confusing. The final battle was going on for about 5 minutes when Braccus Rex suddenly died, no idea how, he just dropped dead, battle over. I didn't even have Anathema because the whole questline was bugged. Tarquin told me he couldn't help me anymore because I didn't help him before in act 2, but he never even gave me the quest in the first place. I didn't need the weapon the way it turned out, but I doubt it was meant to go like that. Why does the battle end when only Braccus dies, anyway? Then the slideshow was a bit strange, because I had consumed Windego's source, so by all rigths she should have ceased to exist, undead or no, but she still narrates the whole slideshow. In this video it's the usual narrator's voice, there are also a lot more slides about different regions and characters that I never got. Does this happen when you don't side with Lucian or maybe because of the custom character? Makes no sense to me either way. Last but not least the entries in the journal didn't reflect what happened in game (again). For example it read that Fane sided against me though he didn't (I think). Lohse's quest doesn't close at all, while the Red Prince's does, but without a new entry about the finale. I also got no additional dialgoue with my romance in the epilogue, not sure if that is a bug, but I had expected some special lines for that occasion. Wasn't there a patch rumoured to come out this week? I hope they fix this mess, this can't be right the way it is.

Divinity Original Sin 2 has a "Dungeon Master" mode.
You invite a group of people, and you guide them through an adventure, while you as the DM are controlling the events and the enemies.
Oh. I tried it before (sort of); 'pen and paper'. Twice. Never worked out. In the first attempt, I felt constricted because I was limited to the char I was playing. I couldn't say anything about the environment, what the char saw unless the DM said it's there, so there's a lot of discussion going to and fro. The problem became worse since the DM was studying and couldn't be around all the time so that died out pretty fast. The second was here, in this forum. I dabble in fanfics so I tend to get carried away when I write; my imagination / images running when I'm involved in new chars / setting . I forgot I was limited to the char I play, I couldn't move the other chars around. I didn't like the PM that was sent me in response to my first RP post; it was brusque. I'd be more receptive if the tone was a polite reminder; um, RP rules says ABC, so you made a mistake when you write DEF. Can you please change it? I removed myself from the RP. No doubt a game DM thing would be different since it's all about game play but I doubt I'd want to try it.

Patch 3 is live! And it’s a huge one!Spoilers are to be found in the notes. Alas chickens don't move as far now so severed tendons and Chicken form is going to have to be used on lower health if you want to kill them.

Alas chickens don't move as far now so severed tendons and Chicken form is going to have to be used on lower health if you want to kill them. I seem to remember another exploit, something a lot more complicated, involving an undead character, healing spells (which damage undead), a spell that transfers damage done from a character to the enemy, and perhaps something else.
Supposedly if used "correctly", it would create a loop, causing infinite damage to the enemy.
Shackles of pain would do it, I'm not sure how to create the loop. Perhaps a necromancer skill that heals?

Dang, I haven't had the chance to try out the chicken and bonewidow. Two of my party were flamed to death after the end of a dialogue and a fail at persuasion. Bam! Just like that. I checked and the adversary was level 15, three levels above the party. I figure I'll try again later with the guy with the higher constitution.

I rejected the skill to leech source from animals so I don't know how that will affect Sebille's source abilities. Btw, to check source points, I've to look in the memory slots right? Because Sebille just learned a skill from Saheila and I don't where to look for it or if it's anywhere to be looked.

The person that teaches you Source Mastery in this manner, and that method, is probably a lesser evil in comparison to the other options... That's sad if it's the lesser evil. Speaking to animals is very useful, learning that skill means no ability to know what they say any more.

About the source masters I rejected Hannag's offer because I would have lost the PetPal talent otherwise. I don't know if that happens to the whole party, but since all of them gain an additional source point if you take it I guess it would. I took Saheila's help to increase my source points and except from an ominous "you are tied to the elves now" -thing nothing bad happens as far as I can tell. The third point came from the succubus, not sure if she counts as evil, but her thrall doesn't seem too unhappy with the situation and she threatens no one (and she is a skillbook trader, would be a waste to kill her). I wouldn't consider Jahan's way evil as well. I mean, they were demons, caged or no, what did they expect? I already had the maximum number of source points at that time so he gave me a unique skillbook instead, not a bad deal imo. The two remaining source masters I know of are Mordus and Ryker. Okay, these two are definitively evil, especially Ryker. I don't know if I would ever let them live, even for science. I wonder what happens if you don't increase you maximum source points at all. You need three points to progress the main quest, but I guess you could still beat the game if you never used skills that require 2 or 3 SP. Maybe there is a way to continue somehow if you managed reject all the trainers. Who wants to try for me, I'm too lazy ? edit: I haven't even considered to take PetPal after that. Guess that works, too.

(or simply build your character in such a way that you take it only after this quest) Oh the pet talk can be taken up again? Thanks, good to know.

Update. The leech animal source master no longer offers to teach it nor is there an option to say you change your mind. What she does do is give Sebille a skill book. A good one I might say. I'll go with it. At the moment, Sebille has two source points, she just needs another one. I think the quest by Jahan (name?) is a good one. Not sure if it'll save Lohse but it's better than Morgus. I killed him btw and then proceeded to smash all the void eggs and critters. That was a good gold haul along the way. * Update II I heard that losing animal speech is permanent, there's no getting it back. Party are now all full up, I did Jahan's quest to get the third and I've to say I do not object to munching on demons. Also got the ability to munch ghosts. Presently cleaning up mini-quests. Why should a phoenix look like a chicken? I refused to do what Ifan suggested. Nope.

I can't recall how I got the first source point. Now I'm trying to link up a tortoise and a rat. I can't lay down the food in a line, some of it kept getting glitched to the roof of the door way. The stairs don't help either.

Why should a phoenix look like a chicken? I refused to do what Ifan suggested. Nope. No idea what Ifan suggests, but the chicken is indeed a phoenix. I've kept the stupid egg to the very end because I had hoped it would hatch at some point. It didn't. Want a pet phoenix . There is another spell that lets you summon a bird. It behaves like a vulture, looks like a raven but is called a condor in the description. They aren't very good at ornithology at Larian, are they?
