Obviously the current state of the MP is a mess. Bugs must be squashed, balancing must be done, and unintuitive UI and other graphical elements need to be addressed before any serious work can be done for future content. That being said, I would like to put my thoughts down now; and hopefully appeal to BioWare content creators here at the beginning of the DLC cycle rather than wade through a sea of same-ish human soldiers with one or two new powers.
While playing several matches, it seems to me that even if we are going to rely on existing assets and animation skeletons as a frame work, aliens like the Hanar and Elcor are more than possible in the game.
The Fiend, with it's gorilla like movement, is more than capable of moving around the map in a game filled with jet packing characters, and would be a perfect baseline for a playable Elcor kit. Just shrink down the model and tweak it's speed slightly and then throw on a new model and you have a perfect representation of that slow talking alien. Weapon use needn't be an issue either, as you could just stick whatever gun the player choses onto a back mounted turret (as indicated in the established lore); or even restrict the Elcor to it's own unique weapon type; no need to worry about animating a brand new holding animation for a semi-quadraped form. Melee attacks could just copy from the Fiend; and since Elcor are arguably the strongest species in the Milky Way (more-so than even the Krogan) you wouldn't really have to scale back their damage or impact either. This kit would function as a slow moving, albeit hard hitting juggernaut. You wouldn't have the mobility of the other kits; and likely could only climb surfaces not jump or dodge, but you would be a tank on par with the boss enemies like the Hydra or Fiend.
Like-wise the observers, and breachers are the perfect template for a Hanar. No need to create brand new animation rigs as the observers/Remnant VI have their own tentacles and "floaty" movement; just replace the boring non-personality of the robotic shell for the familiar squishiness of those lovable space jellyfish/squids. The lore says that they already use mass effect generators to float about outside of water, so just combine that with an initiative jetpack system and you could see them in a viable combat role; though one on the other extreme end of the spectrum from the lumbering Elcor. Your Hanar kit would be fast moving, with an emphasis on hit and run attacks, weapon animations wouldn't necessarily be a problem either as they could be incorporated into their "war harness" similar to the Elcor, or even by making this kit into a melee and power only class. BioWare could just their weight limit so that you can't bring in anything heavier than a carnifex pistol; or better yet restrict the class to pistols/SMGs only. As for melee attacks, just use the one provided by the breacher (the Hanar can produce neruo-toxins and Zaeed was almost strangled to death by one) with the attach themselves to a human sided enemy; maybe even bringing over the "life draining" mechanic from the Geth Juggernaut in ME 3's MP.
I would also like to see at least one new mode added in the form of a Remnant Vault raid. Maybe take a page from DAMP's dungeon run set up (though the later relatively bug-free version); which was created in Frostbite already; and have a game involve players moving through a vault trying to activate a monolith, or deal with enemy factions trying to disable an active one from single player.
