I just finished the game with 83% done and over 100 hours invested. The game had so many great, epic moments despite its flaws and mostly it's holes and pacing in the last two story missions.
I will say that I that story didn't explain the remnant, Jardaan, and Kett that well nor really develop them enough. This biggest downfall to me was the not being able to physically fight or at least punch the Archon..
The final fight and meridian were by far the most epic out of any of the Mass Effect games. Dropping into Meridian, fighting with all the allegiances I had established, having the entire fire team fight together. It was epic. The thing is, We never get to actually fight the dude directly. Sure the architect was more epic (charge and piranha in its face!) than the human reaper in Mass Effect 2, but I wanted to have the option to directly fight or possibly directly kill the Archon with my Krogan hammer.
I did love the religious and political themes/conflicts so it was almost like an Indiana jones type ending with this religious leader finding the holy grail or ark and it being his own doom.

I wish we could have put a bullet in his head like with Saren.

Also the Archon basically went rogue with his obsession with the Remnant tech and cut communications with the rest of the Kett empire.

Yeah the more I think about it and after writing my Indiana Jones comparison, I kind of like that the Archon died from his own obsession.

Me too. We're even fighting an Architect and all we do is press panels and fight a horde mode. When I pressed the final switch and I got the silver trophy I was like "wait... that's it?"

Yeah but story wise it makes a lot of sense and was kind of glorious. Look at my Indiana Jones Thread. The Archon was a religious fanatic leveraging the Kett (Nazis) to achieve his own agenda and make them both more powerful. The Remnant and more specifically Meridian, was the Holy Grail and it ultimately was used to destroy the Archon. Where Meridian can be someone's salvation, it can also be someone else's destruction. There are so many religious themes at play with the game and it's honestly really great writing. It's just not clearly presented at times.

And that being said, there is the constant theme of ally or enemy, helpful vs harmful in terms of the AI. And with the AI, there is this controversy of creation and what defines a god or creator
