Does adding these augs change the firing pattern or do you end up with, for example, a single shot Beam Mattock or a 3 round plasma Pathfinder AR?
Also, does it affect he damage, eg am i better off with a PAW or a Beam Augged Revenant for shredding Remnant?

I haven't used a beam one, but stay far, far away from plasma. I tried the tracking variant and it's hot garbage. The "tracking" is total ass and the projectiles are slow as hell. A regular gun is more effective in every scenario. By the time your shots reach their target they'll probably be back behind cover and you get to watch your ammo fly off into the sky like a flock of birds.
Oh, I totally forgot; the gun fires the same. If it's a three round burst, it'll still be a three round burst (for plasma, can't say what happens for beam).

I like to experiment with different augments on different weapons and armors so this is what I do.
Make my first save for a restore point. Buy any materials, mods or augments I need for crafting. Land on a planet with a research and development terminal close to a forward station. Make another manual save in case I don't like the augment I spend research points on. Spend research points on any additional augments. Craft the weapon and armor I am wanting to try out. Head to the forward station and swap in the new gear. Go find something to kill.
It can be a little bit time consuming but if I don't like what I crafted, I go back to one of my save points and I'm not out any research points, credits, or materials, only a bit of my time.
This helps me get a real feel for how much I like the weapon, armor, mod, augment, etc. and how much it meshes with my play style.

Here is the answer to your question:
If you add beam aug to burst fire weapons, they no longer burst fire, they just become laser guns and shoot laser continuously.
If you add beam aug to shot guns, they are still semi-auto, it's just that the bullets become a single beam, and they no longer scatter. but the accuracy still sucks, because it is a shot gun.

In my experience, the only augment of that type worth adding to your weapon is the sticky grenades. Doesn't change the firing pattern, or more importantly, the time/angle it takes the projectile to reach the target. Plus: Sticky. Grenades. Got an annoying dude who won't come out of cover and you are middle of your cooldowns for powers? Shoot sticky grenades next to him. Guy running to cover too fast for you to track him as he moves? Sticky grenade his likely destination. Multiple guys all bunched up? Shoot the one in the middle and damage all of em for the price of a single bullet. (Haven't tried this with a Sticky Grenade Isharay yet. Hmm.)
I have a Sticky Grenade Valkyrie as my back-up weapon (I am primarily a sniper) and sometimes when using it I forget I could use my primary weapon cause it is so much fun.

Regular non seeking plasma (blue venom projectiles) turns the Falcon into a bona fide wh40k bolter If you add beam aug to burst fire weapons, they no longer burst fire, they just become laser guns and shoot laser continuously. Semi-auto, or shooting as long as the button is pressed. ?

Another question I just discovered, how do you remove Augs from weaponns you can't deconstruct?
I put a beam emitter in one of the pathfinder weapons and I cant get it back, I tried selling and destroying it but nothing. Neither can I research another.
Kinda stuck here.

For whatever reason augments used in crafting the pathfinder weapons can't be recovered. I wish I had better news but it is lost for good unless they fix it in a patch.
Once you research an augment they are supposed to start showing up more frequently in containers so if you want another one you can try save scumming the next rare container you find.

Ok cool, its not the end of the world, oh and BTW, you put a beam aug in the pathfinder AR you get a burst beam. Hence why i wanted to remove it and put it in another gun. Ill just have to stick with the PAW for now. Oh and how do you know what a rare container is?

Oh and how do you know what a rare container is? The largest containers are rare, the next largest uncommon, the smallest have only salvage and the small to medium sized containers are common.

What are pathfinder weapons? I could deconstruct anything that wasn't equipped. They're the digital deluxe weapons, you get the MK1 versions for free at the start and gradually unlock the schematics as you level. Apparently you can't deconstruct either version, which sucks.

Yeah, the deluxe edition weapons aren't all that great, to be honest. I enjoyed the Pioneer for a while...until I figured out the Hornet did the same job but better, and could be deconstructed, giving me my materials and augments back. I wish Bioware would improve the deluxe weapons just a tad, not so much they're superior to everything else, but they're just lackluster enough that you will definitely find yourself moving on to better weapons within the first 4-5 hours.

Its a shame the Pathfinder weapons are weak, I found that I used some of the N7 weapons in ME3 all the way through my playthroughs...the Eagle and Valiant are good for most builds at any level.

Been experimenting with adding beam augment to all kinds of weapons, and apart from looking and sounding good, the damage output is hopelessly low on all of them. Has anyone found a way to craft any beam weapons that actually do a decent amount of damage? I loved the look of a beam mattock or raptor - but they were so weak as to be unusable.

Also, does it affect he damage, eg am i better off with a PAW or a Beam Augged Revenant for shredding Remnant? You end up with a laser that is 90% reduced damage...no joke

I added seeking plasma system and bio converter augmentations to a piranha shotgun. Using turbocharge and cloak, the player can cause a lot of damage. It makes insanity very easy.
