So I'm a completionist by heart. I want my manifest maxed out and I want to get all the challenges done. Compared to ME3MP the challenges take far longer, mostly due to much less points awarded for killing the enemies. While the limits are kept the same, 140,000 for weapons and 50,000 for powers. In ME3MP I was able to complete a weapon challenge in only one good match. For gold missions ~ 100,000 points were common and not only for the lead but as an average. I've done more than 300,000 in one match and saw others doing even more. Now in MEAMP you get 15,000-20,000 in average for a gold mission. This is only something between 1/5 and 1/8 compared to ME3, which means one needs to complete roughly 5-8 times more matches to get the challenges done. This is quite ridiculous, but I can live with it.
What's bugging me a lot more is the fact that I wasn't able to perform a tech combo which counts towards the tech mastery. I've tried several things, now. Used different primers and detonators (at least, but not limited to: cryo blast, flamer, energy drain, different ammo as primer; overload, energy drain, incinerate as detonator), also tried doing combos completely on my own. But so far nothing helps, I'm doing a lot of combos, but for the tech mastery nothing seems to count. For biotic combos everything is fine, seems to count every one where I either primed or detonated. Combat combos not really tried so far.
Someone observing the same? Haven't found any related topic. But I know a lot of people simply don't care for the challenges. I play on PS4

May be a bug, i just checked my own (inb4 l2p...) and i have no tech detonations and i know ive done lots of fire/cryo/disruptor explosions. As counted on the andromeda hq mobile app weapon tech challenges.
Unless there are some other tech combo the game wants us to do??

May be a bug, i just checked my own (inb4 l2p...) and i have no tech detonations and i know ive done lots of fire/cryo/disruptor explosions. As counted on the andromeda hq mobile app weapon tech challenges. Unless there are some other tech combo the game wants us to do?? That's my thought, too. Most likely it's a bug. Another thing that shows how intensively the testing was done.
Not sure what other combos could be meant with tech combos. I've done as well cryo, fire and electro combos. Not with all possible power combinations though.

It's obviously fouled up. It doesn't track my tech or combat detonations. It wasn't tracking biotic detonations either, then last week after a game I got silver biotic detonations challenge complete. So, I assume it retroactively tracked them because I know I didn't get 250 in one match. Now it seems to be stuck at 499. But, who the hell knows at this point. I'm on PS4 as well

Very likely a bug. Detonated plenty of tech combos and none are counting in the challenge log (still at 0). Didn't even know combat detonations were a thing, definitely haven't seen any indicators in MP matches that combat detonations were happening. I'd say those are bugged somewhat more than tech detonations. Hopefully the patch brings in some fixes.
Biotic mastery seems to be working for now, though I think the biotic detonations has stopped counting toward my total. I've been completing other biotic challenges and plenty of detonations happened as a result, but weren't added to my total (currently at 429/500).
Edit: Biotic detonations are counting toward the challenge for me. Now at 451/500, seems like I didn't pay much attention to the total count the last few times I looked.

I am 99% certain only kills count. I was doing tons of explosions and got no medal until i changed my tactics to use the combos to finish NPCs off rather than start the fight with them.
I've had a number of matches with gold / silver biotic and tech medals and still have zero has far as achievements are concerned . . .
Hope they fix that retrospectively.

For biotic combos it's definitely not necessary to get the kill. I was starting with an engineer and detonated some biotic combos with overload in my very first match. Definitely wasn't making a kill, but afterwards I had 7/50 biotic combos. With my human adept I was able to do more than 30 biotic combos in one match counting towards biotic mastery. I definitely didn't make as many kills in this match with biotics. Most of the time I was finishing the enemies with my talon. Ended up with golden pistol medal and no biotic medal.
But here we have another thing that's discussable. Why the heck can I detonate a biotic combo with a tech power. In ME3 this wasn't possible and I think in MEA this shouldn't be possible, too.

There's no combat power with a primer in the direct available skills. There's only barricade 6b, fortify 6b and trip mine 6b for me available, which could serve as combat primer. Not sure if there's more as I don't have all chars, yet. I haven't skilled towards these by now, maybe someone has and could share his observations.

What I find as interesting in some challenges is getting points in guns I have not even unlocked. I've not seen this mentioned and I wonder how wide spread it is but if you check your gun points you may also find a small amount of points in guns you don't even have yet. I think the entire challenge system has issues. A few days ago, I noticed my leader-board standing showed I was #8 in the world in challenge points which I’m sure is also incorrect or I'm just playing way too much.

How the game works seems to have lots of randomness in its implementation.
But if you have gotten bronze and silver I would imagine that if you keep trying that whatever worked to get you that far will eventually start working again.

Thats a change to ME3 and it was in Dev blogs. Any "detonator" will now blow any "primer"

I only seen tech expliosions when I have detonated electric primers evos from energy drain 5a, and according to game it also on Barricade 6b and Fortify 6b. So play a class with one of these skills personally I take one of the sentinels since they can set it up with Energy Drain and detonate with Throw.

So play a class with one of these skills personally I take one of the sentinels since they can set it up with Energy Drain and detonate with Throw. I already did combos with energy drain as primer, doesn't count as well. For barricade and fortify I would expect that those are the primers to set up combat combos. But haven't tried so far.

Oh, totaly forgot... There is Remnant VI Challenge, but I don't see character who has it... Checked yesterday and tech detonations looks fixed now for me, i have tech detonations in my stats, fewer than i thought (l2p scrub...) but still :-) Remnant VI is on the salarian architecht.

For a pure Tech detonation you need to combo only shock damage with either another shock damage source/ability or by using a biotic power like Throw or Lance.
Disruptor ammo + Overload of Energy Drain shold net you plenty Tech detonations.
I'm a purest though and I see Boosters as blasphemy and never use them. Also a good tab on how many times I've been f***ed over by RNG, currently have 11 UR Boosters 0 UR characters and 2 UR weapons both at rank I.
