Bioware could get away with not having them with the original trilogy, didn't really go to many places that should really have children running around. But with this new story focused on settling on new worlds, re-population is going to be pretty important to the story. Just a thought

I thought it was a rather glaring omission in the OT, but considering we never even saw all the races females it wasn't the most glaring omission. It is already rather strange we don't see any Angara children, at least on Aya. Frankly I'm not holding my breath, but you are correct if they don't start making with the babies Andromeda is going to be a pretty short chapter of history for the Milky Way races.

First, let's have BioWare's modelers make more than, like, 2 variants for each alien race. Children aren't a high priority.
But yeah, assuming BioWare get their act together, some children wouldn't be unwelcome. I'd say they were essential given the setting, but children in sci-fi and child actors in general just have such a hard time not being awful, and there's always a decent excuse to throw them off screen: "they're in school," "they're sleeping," "they're with their father for the weekend," etc.. I'll take a shitty excuse over a shitty excuse for an actor any day.

If they are anything like the children in Skyrim, I'd rather not... Plus, I still haven't quite recovered from the one child in a Mass Effect game...

If this keeps up we'll have kids, weddings, birthdays, burying a pet.
Kids are only good if they die or if your goal is protect that specific kid.
Or if you are that kid.
Or if the goal is to cure a disease that prevents people from having kids which is more common than you might think.
Outside of that no thank you.

There can be talk about kids in a game without actually showing the runts. If it's just to have kids running around just for the sake of "Hey look! Kids!", I don't see the point

Does ME:A even clarify the means of Angaran reproduction? I thought they were just giving head like pros. You can be even cloned without your ding-a-ling and still make a living with BJs and box munching.

Also, no thanks. Children are annoying if they're in anything for more than 5 minutes, so the only way you can make children work in your game is to add the ability to shoot the little shits when you can't stand them any longer (Fallout 2), but you cannot do that no more because of how realistic the graphics have become.

No thanks, most children in videogames (and real life) are annoying. They better spend their time on more important things.

Yes, they should. Have them be random NPCs in crowds that don't do much, but for people who're aiming for "immersion" in their games, children should be on that list.

Well, there is a quest line that does talk about the first born human baby in the Helius Cluster. They do explain the omission via that. Considering how important family is to the Anagera it is a bit surprising there aren't and kids about, but still.

I kept thinking of the kids in skyrim and thought how hard would that be? There should be be children at least on Aya. I can see not having any on the Nexus. They are not "essential" and may still be in stasis and/or no families with minors were recruited.

No. Most of my experiences with children in bioware games, e.g ones in SWTOR have been incredibly creepy.

Not if they are only going to be mindless drones roaming about for the sake of 'realism'. They need to bring something on the table, especially since they are even easier to fuck up than adults (I cringed everytime I had to speak to a child in TW3). The only recent game I can cite where children actually brought something significant story-wise, and a unique perspective in regards to the world they were brought into was TLOU.
On the principle, I'm not opposed, it does expand on the world/lore building, but I don't want them to be implemented in a tacky way.

But with this new story focused on settling on new worlds, re-population is going to be pretty important to the story. Just a thought I'd certainly like to see more discussion around kids in MEA2. By the end of MEA1 most of the outposts are in a position where they can start having kids, so I'd like them to at least be mentioned more, maybe a squadmate could have kids or be thinking about having them or there could be a discussion around how to incentivise colonists to have kids to replace those that died and start increasing the population. As for having them in the game, I'd only before it if they designed kids for each race rather than just have a tonne of Human & Asari kids running around because their models are similar.
