There must have already been thread suggesting this already, right?
Why not have the subtitle come up as you scroll over to the dialogue choice, (so you know what exactly you are picking for the character to say).
Thoughts?

Im totally for it. Look at Deus Ex Mankind Divided, they had a dialog wheel but when you hover over option, it would usually give you a big chunk of text of either what you gonna say, or at least give a very good idea what you gonna say. Considering that currently lines in Andromeda are too often extremely mismatch and not representing in any way or tone of what your Ryder will say, I totally agree that some elaboration to dialogue wheel is needed.

Bio's said that they tested this years ago, and it failed. It ended up being less popular than the current system.

It gets suggested sometimes, but in practice, it would be utterly annoying...

Too bad then, I really want something that's better than the dialogue wheel

There must have already been thread suggesting this already, right? Why not have the subtitle come up as you scroll over to the dialogue choice, (so you know what exactly you are picking for the character to say). Thoughts? Here's what I remember from discussions with devs (mostly David Gaider, then lead writer for DA) on the old official BSN. Some of the writing is more like a screenplay than the basic text dialogue of yore, and includes things like tone and gestures, facial expressions, nodding, etc. It's difficult to reduce that to pure text for display. Also, some of the lines are too long to display, and sometimes selecting a single line results in ongoing back-and-forth conversation. Again, because cinematic screenplay. In the focus group testing they've tried, it turns out that people didn't like reading a line and then hearing that line repeated word for word by a VA. It felt redundant to the focus testers, and that's sort of what gave rise to the paraphrases. I don't know whether they've changed the rules, but I know that at one point, paraphrases could not include any of the key words that were in the actual dialogue line. Some of us have been wanting the paraphrase/dialogue wheel system to go away for as long as it's existed.
