The only reason I would replay this game is to try out specific profiles for combat to be honest. I haven't finished the campaign so I can't say much about decision making and the story in general, but so far, it's pretty meh to me. The roleplaying in this game seems pretty restrictive compared to other Bioware games. It's not like I could make different Ryder's and see drastically different responses from characters like I could with Shepard or the protagonists from the Dragon Age games ... so what's the point? Again, I guess people could play it to choose different paths from the story but I personally haven't experienced any big decisions yet for me to wonder what the other outcome would be. Going back to your question, this is the replay value for me from most to least in the Mass Effect series: Mass Effect 2 Mass Effect 3 Mass Effect: Andromeda Mass Effect 1 Not the best, but with a couple of more patches and story-driven DLC ME:A could move up. While I agree that the replay value of ME:A is way lower than most ME games, I'd rank it above ME3 (!) and I would not put ME1 at the bottom (that's where ME3 would be in my list...I've tried replaying ME3 several times and I always stop before the last mission (don't want to see star-brat/bratalyst again! That thing, especially in the form of that fucking child you see at the start of the game for a few freaking seconds (and in those crappy nightmare-scenes, which I hate even more than the ending but which at least kind of make sense!), makes no sense what so ever IMHO (thanks Super-Mac for dumping the dark-energy-plotline and making ME3 into this clusterfuck of stupidity! Hell even leaving the reapers motivations totally in the dark would have been fucking better than THIS!)) So here, my list: ME2 ME1 ME:A ME3 As for ME:A - well, if it had some better decisions (most of them really look like they are trying to set up another game (!) because you don't see anything happen because of them!) that really changed the ending (so far I've had ONE decision I want to reverse/change - the Turian pathfinder one (I want to drag that guy back to his job kicking and screaming now, I hate that I let myself be talked out of making him pathfinder!)! In the other ME-Games I had several that I wanted to change!) it would have more replay-value greetings LAX

Just started my first NG+ and wondering if I'll get a lot of replay value out of the game compared to the amount I had with the Mass Effect trilogy and DA:O. There's a lot of things I'm sure I missed and places I wanted to investigate but didn't want to get sidetracked. And this game does seem to 'ambush' you a lot when you're concentrating on a single quest (like Contagion). All I can say is that the me3 endings took the replayability of the trilogy away for me. I replayed it once in five years. As a casual gamer I'm only 50 hours in on my first playthrough of meA. Having alot of fun and really enjoying it. It's nice to be able to play my favorite gaming IP again. So replayability looks plausible. Same with me - only played once with one replay due to the ME 3 ending. And after that got hooked on MP. With MOD support, like MEHEM and the Citadel DLC, SP got a few more runs.

The only way I would be able to pay through again with any enjoyment is just to hit the priority and loyalty missions, and maybe try out some new skills. And even that would be exhausting (but I may try so I can play through as a male Ryder).
This game could have seriously benefited from the playstyle options we had in ME3 (ie, story versus story+action versus action only). Replaying is a slog without them (unless you really dig the game).

It doesn't really have too much replay value yet because there is not a sequel to see your choices unfold. Most decisions are left to be affected on a 2nd game. Which is the same thing I could say about Mass Effect 1. Sure there you had virmire character, wrex dies or not, council or not, but you didn't really see these decisions matter significantly on the story until the 2nd game.

I think I may have one more go in me in which I try a completely different combat build, play the other gender, and go logical/professional only. The new galaxy map animation skip should also help. The time-consuming busywork factor is still very high, though. Even interesting quests are dilluted by "drive here to get this datapd - go to a different planet to have a 20 second conversation - now go to your ship to read your e-mail - now go through Kadara port and the slums to reach the mission area and pick up the next part of the quest there". I realise this is open world standard, but the lengthy travel sequences and loading screens just were a bit much sometimes and make me push off the idea of a replay until they implemented all their bug fixes in a couple months, by which time I have hopefully forgotten some of the smaller quests and can be motivated by surprise again.

If you don't want to test other choices available then there is not much replay value and even if you do, it should be for the sake of roleplaying cause the majority of choices don't matter at least for now apparently and compared to usual Bioware games MEA feels even more limited in this regard, but to be fair only a few games really have choices that are worth caring about sadly.
With the combat we are not forced to replay just to test other skills thankfully but if with NG+ enemies don't get tougher or rewards any better then there is no big reason to replay gameplay-wise either other than easy leveling up for tier X items or enjoying the main game on a higher difficulties if you didn't already. those that just enjoy the combat and look for any excuse to test different builds though might as well just go for NG+ if they already finished the game and if they are up for it.
I may eventually start a NG+ after several patches just to see all the differences but honestly i rarely replay games unless replaying them unlocks a good chunk of new content or if i miss something big during my first run.

Any game that let's you switch skills on the fly and doesn't limit by class will inherently have less replay value, though the limit of 3 skills does help mitigate that. For example, first time through I was an engineer, second time I'm an adept combo maker. I can be a sneaky sniper or melee on other playthroughs. So, the profiles do provide some replay value- players just need to have self-control to not constantly switch things up.
Story wise... There are a few decisions you can mske throughout the game that may impact future games, so we'll see.

It'll get 1 more PT from me in a few months. Halfway through my second go, I realized there is literally no difference between the decisions you make, it really changes nothing, the only thing that does is the remant power core on eladaan, which is just... well laughable. Your option being, get the core, and get nothing out of it, and no outpost, or get an outpost. Nice job, Bioware.
